Glamis Arena date for Zimpraise

IN their seven years of existence, the Joseph Madziyire-led gospel choir has shaken the musical corridors becoming a household name both in the country and beyond the borders.
They have not only performed in the region, but have repeatedly toured the United Kingdom and Dubai.
And the outfit will next week record its seventh live DVD album at the Glamis Arena.
“We are moving to a bigger venue this time because we had many fans turned away last year at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC),” said public relations head Tendai Zhou.
“Before that we recorded at the 7 Arts in Avondale and that too was filled beyond its capacity pushing us to move, maybe next year we will be filling up the stadium.”
The choir expects more than 6 000 fans, the figure that showed up last year, to turn up.
It will also be the first time the group records in an open space.
“The tickets are going for US$5, US$10 and US$20 for the show which will start at 4pm,” Zhou said.
“It has been done before internationally but it requires a special technician who we have already roped in to assist us to ensure perfect sound as would be expected in a closed auditorium.”
The organisers have also roped in supporting acts set to perform on the day that include Minister Takesure known for his hit song ‘Prayer for Zimbabwe’ and Amos Mahendere.
“Each year we have a theme that we run with and this year our theme is ‘The Revelation of Jesus Christ’,” Zimpraise CEO Joseph Madziyire said.
“God has been blessing us and we are excited about what is in store for this Live DVD recording.
“We want to make sure that all the glory due is given to Jehovah who has taken us this far.”
The organisers also added that the group will be launching a clean-up campaign this Saturday around First Street and Copacabana areas.
“We have had a lot of support from the community and this is our way of giving back to the community,” Zhou added.
The choir has had its fair share of struggles some might say controversies regarding issues of ownership and control, the huge-in-numbers, group has been rocked by cases of alleged disgruntlements as a result of unfair treatment of members, but seven years on, the group is still churning out hits.
