Remain proudly Zimbabwean

DESPITE all the challenges, I take my hat off to the people of Zimbabwe: dynamic, creative and resilient.
Zimbabwe is a beautiful country with hardworking, educated people.
I would like to refer to some of the conversations going on in the social media and one in particular which came to my attention because of all the common placed rhetorical ‘Blame Mugabe for everything’ ranting that has now become so tired and ridiculous you have to wonder what became of this intelligent nation?
Allow me to share.
The Zimbabwean Patriots – is a group which I believe was started sometime in 2013 and I joined this group because I wanted to engage with my brothers and sisters out there.
The profile of the group reads as follows:
The patriotic vision and mission
As Zimbabwean patriots we are all motivated by the love of our motherland. Every patriot is committed to the development and betterment of Zimbabwe and all its peoples.
Patriots are encouraged to be respectful and tolerant.
No racism, no tribalism, no emotional personal attacks.
We respect all leaders from the various political parties.
We all have to contribute to the creation of a peaceful country, happy and enlightened societies where every Zimbabwean being part of the global village means our interests topics and debates shall include regional and international perspective and analysis.
These may, among others, include social and religious debates, Zimbabwe being a multi-cultural country demands that we uphold Unity in Diversity.
We encourage the youth to be active in the economy to be educated and trained for skills and trades that will make them successful future leaders.
You are most welcome as a member of Zimbabwean patriots and please invite all your friends to join.
Peace progress and happiness have to contribute to the creation of a peaceful country, happy and enlightened societies where every Zimbabwean can live in dignity and have a purposeful life. Powerful indeed, until this week when I bumped into a conversation that focused on our President, being the only Head of State to attend Malawi’s 50th anniversary celebrations!
I would not care to share some of the awful negativity that was spewed out by some ‘patriots’!
It was embarrassing if not just plain annoying that the kind of stupidity and ignorance that continues to come out of our own mouths is just left unchecked as our very own sons and daughters.
Why are we still so stuck on attacking and blaming Mugabe for everything that goes wrong in this country?
Sadly throughout that conversation not one person made reference to the fact that come August Zimbabwe becomes the SADC chair and so like it or not Mugabe had to go to Malawi if not now he would have gone between now and August to take over the role of SADC chairperson from Malawi.
May I also remind my esteemed brothers and sisters that come 2015 we will be the chair of the African Union!
And he will have to travel to Addis Ababa for that!
Will he be attacked for that again!
And so as usual it is the rest of Africa and the global village that we all espouse to be a part of that ‘recognises and acknowledges’ the brilliance of our leadership even in spite of Zimbabweans out there being their/our own worst enemies.
The same intelligent group of Zimbabweans who are so stuck in sucking up to the West where they all live in misery and sadness, too proud, stubborn and angry to come home and fix what they see wrong!
How sad indeed!
As we all focus on the youth as our leaders for tomorrow, my appeal to all the sons and daughters out there is to stop for a moment and reflect on where you are and how you got there?
That you are able to work and live and contribute to other economies whether legally or illegally, you are Zimbabwean and you should remain proudly so.
In closing as Zimbabwe continues to rise and take her place in the very global village that has continued to shun her and her people because we dared to take our land back here, we are proudly able to show off medical victory!
Kupakwashe and Tapiwanashe are two conjoined twins, who were born on April 22 in Harare to a Murehwa couple. They have now been separated after a medical breakthrough carried out by a team of 50 at Harare Hospital.
What makes this important in the history of Zimbabwean medicine is that the procedure was carried by a wholly Zimbabwean team.
Their father Mr. Moses Chitigo is a fruit and vegetable seller in Murehwa.
The two boys had separate heartbeats but no visible dividing membrane.
Dr Bothwell Mbuvayesango who was part of the crew that made it all happen attributed the success to teamwork.
The boys are now recuperating in the Harare Hospital Intensive Care Unit where they are being closely monitored a week after the surgery.
Health and Child Welfare Deputy Minister, Dr Paul Chimedza said that the procedures showed that Zimbabwe had doctors that could compete with the best in the world in terms of skills.
We’re pretty happy that this happened.
Doing cartwheels and the lot.
It is great when you get human interest stories of this sort that matter.
It gives you confidence that given proper resourcing we can pull in incredible directions.
This is especially true in light of the fact that Harare Hospital might not have good resources in terms of money but it has great people manning it.
The power of the human being is intense.
We love it.
