Are we that retrogressive?

Published on

SADLY we have elements in our midst that will never see anything good, not because they are thorough people but because they serve agendas that seek destruction of the country.
Time and again we have seen these elements grabbing every opportunity to criticise, demonise the country’s leadership and efforts at turning around our economy.
The tragedy with these people is that unwittingly they end up hating themselves wishing they were something that they will never be, that is being white.
They end up far detached from that which defines them as a people, black, African and Zimbabweans.
The goings on in the East, in China where President Robert Mugabe was on a state visit, must delight every Zimbabwean but some are not happy.
Before the ink has dried on the deals signed between Harare and Beijing there are murmurs, pessimism continues instead of optimism.
What should be understood by our critics is that the agreements cement a friendship that is not superficial but dates back to the days of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.
We must be optimistic for that is the first stage to achieving success in our endeavours in the fields of energy, roads, national railway network, telecommunications, agriculture and tourism.
Zimbabwe is set for phenomenal growth and those that have refused to partner us unhappy with our declaration of independence and refusal to revert back to being a colony again will lose out.
We will not suffer because our erstwhile colonisers have refused to deal with us.
We are a nation with abundant resources and they have nothing thus ultimately they are the losers and not us.
As a nation we are not regressing, we are going forward.
Denigration and vilification will not put us down.
There are nations, equally big and powerful that respect us as a people and these we will continue working with.
The Look East Policy has sustained us; it kept us going when the West totally shut its doors.
The Chinese are a force to reckon with and so is Zimbabwe thus our relationship is that of equals which is the most important thing.
There are those that will have a smirk on their faces at the mention of the word equals.
But we are equals for we do not feel inferior for we are not and that is why we have always had problems with the West.
The West insists that we are inferior and that we should behave as such.
We will not.
To armchair critics everything is and should be about the West.
But it is not.
We will negotiate on our terms with whoever we want.
Zimbabwe is destined for growth and it will develop in leaps and bounds.
Prophets of doom may prophesy but this will not make their prophesies any true, they will not come to fruition.
We have gone through a lot as a country.
The scars of the liberation struggle are still fresh.
The scars of the illegal economic sanctions are still with us causing unbearable pain.
We have faced many challenges and we have emerged victorious, every time.
We will continue telling our story.
Hatinete kuitaura nyaya yeZimbabwe kusvika mwana wevhu adzidza.
Tinofa tichiitaura.
We must value our land.
We must cherish our worth.
Most importantly we must celebrate our success.
