We must remain focused

ON Monday Zimbabweans join hands in commemorating the signing of the historical Unity Accord.
The Unity Accord which was signed in 1987 by President Robert Mugabe and the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo has brought about the spirit of oneness and a sense of belonging to Zimbabwe.
The Patriot went to the streets to find out what the people had to say as the country celebrates the existing peaceful environment brought about by the historic Unity Accord.
Tapiwa Maseko, Glenview, Harare: Zimbabweans today live together in harmony as one and all this is attributed to the Unity Accord signed by the two great leaders.
The accord has taught us that we may be diverse, but we are all one and we can work together for the betterment of our country.
As a united front we can conquer.
Working together with the same vision allows us to develop our nation.
Zimbabweans should never lose sight of what our elders have taught us that we need each other and everyone is important as we build our nation.
Let us remain united in fighting the enemy that is still devising methods of how they can once again come and loot our resources.
Let us remain united in utilising our natural resources for the benefit of the country.
We should be proud of who we are as Zimbabweans.
Rebecca Phiri, Milton Park, Harare: The signing of the Unity Accord was a noble thing that our leaders did for us as a nation.
To us the younger generation, the accord shows our leaders President Mugabe and the late VP Nkomo had a vision that went beyond their own generations.
With the prevailing peace we have managed to build our country as one.
Despite the challenges we face we have remained true to the Unity Accord and we have remained resilient towards finding a home grown solution to our problems.
It is important that as youths we take a leaf from the standards set by our leaders.
The future generations should always be reminded about the importance of unity and working together with one vision to build Zimbabwe.
It is the duty of every Zimbabwean to ensure that the legacy of our leaders lives on.
With the prevailing peaceful environment developmental programmes have been implemented that have not only empowered us but helped us realise the value of our natural resources.
We should continue to advocate and ensure that every Zimbabwean is empowered.
Christopher Muzanenhamo, Mbare, Harare: As Zimbabweans commemorate Unity Day it is important we remain true to the goals our leaders hoped to achieve.
We continue to live in a peaceful environment.
As a result of the prevailing peaceful environment a number of empowerment and developmental goals have been achieved.
We thank the leaders for instilling the sense of unity among us as this has helped us map the way for our country.
The onus is on us as Zimbabweans to ensure we remain united and continue to develop Zimbabwe.
As a united front no enemy can come and attack us.
We should remain united and speak with one voice defending our sovereignty and protecting our resources.
As we move forward to turn around the fortunes of the country the key is to remain focused.
