‘Stop making false prophesies’

Published on

THE Zimbabwe Independent (February 10 to 16 2017) has been running a series of articles which seek to tell Zimbabweans what the political future of this country is going to look like.
In predicting the future, the above ‘newspaper’ is not being aided by prophets, diviners or the proverbial crystal ball.
Not at all!
They are being helped in their prophecies by a foreign-funded political outfit calling itself the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute.
And this political organisation calls itself a ‘think tank’.
In this article we are going to show that, l the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute is not a think tank in the traditional sense of the word but a political outfit funded from the West whose aim is to undermine and eventually bring to an end the progressive revolutionary rule of ZANU PF.
l we are going to show that the predictions on the political future of this country made by the institute are as wrong as those made by the Nigerian self-styled prophet T. B. Joshua who predicted that Hillary Clinton was going to win the US elections last year.
Furthermore, that their reading of political trends in this country are no different from those of a Grade Zero child trying to read, understand and interpret a book on nuclear physics and so must be disregarded completely.
But first things first.
Let us address the question of whether the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute is a think tank.
Are they a think tank in the traditional sense of the word?
The short answer to that is ‘no’.
How do we support this assertion of ours?
One Neil Ford whose views we agree with totally, writing in the African Business magazine of November 2014 explains what a think tank is and what their roles should be.
“Think tanks are independent political research institutions that seek to influence government policy and can play a vital role in the political life of a nation.”
He goes on to opine that their function is to subject policy changes to vigorous analysis and must be manned by ‘some of Africa’s most brilliant analytical minds with invaluable experience’.
On top of this, Ford says think tanks are expected ‘not only to contribute to the body of knowledge but also to take from the body of knowledge to propose real solutions to busy policymakers’.
Can anyone honestly say the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute role is to ‘influence Government policy’ in Zimbabwe positively and constructively? Really?
Or to ‘propose real solutions to busy policy makers’?
No ways!
Theirs is, in fact, to undermine the Zimbabwe Government’s policies.
Whatever they propose is meant to erode the confidence people have in their Government so that in the end, the people reject their government.
The Zimbabwe Democracy Institute is, to all intents and purposes, an agent of regime change masquerading as a democracy outfit.
In revolutionary political speak, it is called ‘a running dog’ of imperialism (chimbwasungata) whose agenda is to always paint the Zimbabwe Government in bad light and teach people to hate their Government so that with the passage of time, people will abandon it and go for a puppet regime.
Therefore, the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute is no think tank.
Their mission is to preach the gospel of hate against ZANU PF and its Government.
Now about their political predictions.
Zimbabwe Democracy Institute predicts there shall be what they call political ‘scenarios’ which are going to play out in the country soon.
They say there is this present scenario where President Robert Mugabe is ruling.
As far as they are concerned, this is a very bad scenario ‘marked by the intensification of the (so-called) on-going governance maladies in both the party and Government with the attendant policy incoherence and even immobilism (whatever it means)’.
They predict this present scenario will end when the President is ‘in the wheelchair’.
Then before explaining what this mumbo jumbo means, they are already making another prediction: That President Mugabe will die in office!
What is going on here?
Can anyone take these prophets of doom seriously when they are speaking in meaningless political parables?
Don’t worry, all the above confusion is created so that with everyone totally confused the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute sells the scenario that they want, which they call the ‘best case scenario’.
They say, ‘this is a feel-good scenario’ where there are free, fair and credible elections – a grand coalition of opposition parties achieves electoral victory similar to the Gambia case in the December 1 2016 elections.
Were this to happen in Zimbabwe in 2018, ‘the country would be on a recovery path… and a foundation laid for pro-poor economic growth’.
There you are!
These prophets are saying the 2018 elections will be won by a grand coalition and this they say is good for the country.
Are these people living in Zimbabwe or what?
Which political party will ever bring into the country an economic foundation for the poor that can ever beat the one that has already been laid by Command Agriculture and the Presidential Input Scheme?
Which party other than ZANU PF?
Talk of grand coalition is really laughable.
Before the ink had even dried up with the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute advocating a grand coalition being formed by the MDC-T and ZimPF of Joice Mujuru, the ZimPF outfit has already imploded.
Now what grand coalition is the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute talking about?
Surely they can’t be talking about a coalition of Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti and Professor Ncube, people who divorced acrimoniously only yesterday?
If the Zimbabwe Democracy Institute wants a real political civil war in Zimbabwe, then they must try to bring together Messrs Tsvangirai, Ncube and Biti.
Listen Zimbabwe Democracy Institute; the road ahead is very clear.
There are elections next year which ZANU PF, because of their pro-poor Government, is going to win.
Coming to succession politics, whenever President Mugabe decides to retire and leave the political stage, a handover of power will be done very smoothly believe me.
The structures for that are there in the country’s Constitution and ZANU PF’s own constitution.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Democracy Institute, please stop misleading Zimbabweans by making crazy predictions about the political future of this country which you don’t understand.
By the way, patriots always remember that whenever enemies of ZANU PF and the Government talk of free and fair elections, they mean elections where they end up winning.
All elections they lose are branded unfree and unfair.
