21st February Movement emboldens youths

Published on

THE 21st February Movement goes beyond celebrating the birthday of President Robert Mugabe.
It is a reminder of the people’s journey in search of freedom and a collective reflection of the journey to becoming Zimbabwe.
The Movement was established in 1986 to embolden Zimbabweans, the youths in particular, to emulate President Mugabe’s revolutionary ideas, good leadership qualities, selfless policies and commitment to Africa.
Cde Mugabe has ensured we do not just have political independence but economic liberation as well.
Since the initiation of the Movement, the goals have been biased towards inspiring and empowering the youths, giving them a platform to reflect on how they can contribute to positive values of life and national development.
The event enables youths to draw inspiration from the leadership of the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
Most young people have benefitted from the policies spearheaded by President Mugabe such as education, indigenisation and land reform.
Addressing the youths on his 92nd birthday, President Mugabe appealed to youths to be well behaved and respectful and to observe oneness as well as unity which is critical to development and growth of the nation.
This year’s 21st February Movement celebrations in Matopos run under the theme ‘Honouring our icon, unlocking value in the youth’.
The theme sums up President Mugabe’s tireless efforts to have patriotic and productive citizens. We must emulate this revolutionary.
