Great things in the making

THE State of the Nation Address (SONA) was exactly what it was, a State of the nation address.
It sought nothing else, but to deal with issues of the state.
From start to finish, President Mugabe presented a statement that not only reassured every progressive citizen, but clearly stated the plan guiding efforts to revamp the fortunes of the country.
Critics of the statement are obviously from the school that believes that ukasataura zvandirikuda hapana zvawataura.
This is the height of irresponsibility and unreasonableness.
Rather these elements, we should not even call them unreasonable, but outright dangerous.
Their motives and agendas are not fuelled by patriotism at all.
These elements are mercenaries paid to throw spanners in efforts seeking not just to make this economy work, but thrive.
Zimbabweans, no matter how much noise is made to the contrary by so-called experts, fundis and ‘august’ bodies trust President Robert Mugabe.
The latest paper from the think-tank Afrobarometer indicates that people have more faith in President Mugabe and less, if any at all, in the struggling Morgan Tsvangirai whose fortunes, in all arenas, have plummeted.
Afrobarometer indicated that, “President Mugabe’s approval ratings were on an upward trend, more than doubling, Tsvangirai’s were on a downward drift.”
This is not a surprise, the President is working hard as evidenced by so much that is happening.
Government is working.
Strategies, measures, means, methods and ways to get us out of the rut are being put in place.
The address by the President was more of a challenge to every citizen of this nation.
He clearly enunciated a 10-point plan, which is the backbone guiding the development agenda.
And another message that rang loud in his address is that iwe neni tine basa.
Our input is vital.
Ours, as I have stated before, is not to just sit, fold our hands and wait for the good times to roll.
The system devised to get the country going will only be effective to the levels we adhere to it.
We must religiously adhere to it, in its entirety.
If we are to bust corruption, totally do away with it, we will sprint where others have crawled.
Corruption has suffocated and derailed projects.
Corruption has held us back and frustrated many that are ready to give their all for the motherland.
Modernising our labour laws is critical.
How many of us deserve even the so-called paltry wages?
Are we giving our all in the various fields?
Are not our jackets and handbags more familiar with our offices than ourselves?
If we were to be paid by the hour for service delivered, some if not many of us would go home empty-handed.
Have we really considered the potential of the Small-and-Medium Enterprises (SMEs)?
These institutions must grow.
They have become the largest employer after Government, but the approach, the modus operandi in this sector leaves a lot to be desired.
It seems that some of the players prefer to remain operating on the fringes where they can remain unaccountable.
How many in this sector pay taxes?
How many are registered operators?
How many have approached financial institutions and presented business plans that seek to conquer regional and international markets?
How many are investing back into their operations?
Are not many in the sector externalising funds, banking monies in Swiss accounts helping foreign countries grow their economies at the expense of the motherland.
An economy is not just the Government, it is its entire people.
Every point in the plan laid out by President Mugabe, adhered to religiously, will propel the growth of the nation.
Criticism of the address exposes not just ignorance but determination by the regime change agenda advocates to derail and distract the people from the great things in the making.
