AS the final reports of observer missions to the July 31 2018 harmonised elections are published, it has become predictable that the stalwarts of the regime change agenda have remained true to their conviction.
The victory of ZANU PF, a former liberation movement, must have been a shattering blow to their regime change mission.
This is because the imperialists are aware that the revolutionary Party knows the value of the country’s natural resources and is not prepared to be hoodwinked into mortgaging them cheaply.
They fear a positive report about the electoral process would be interpreted as tacit endorsement of the genuine indigenous black aspirations.
Fortunately, we know where these organisations are coming from.
One such organisation is Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe (CCJPZ).
For a start, the history of Catholic missionaries in Zimbabwe is replete with demonstrations of massive support for colonialism and disrespect for the indigenes.
Take Father Biehler for instance.
Here was a Roman Catholic priest at Chishawasha Mission, who is known to have urged the extermination of all blacks over the age of 14 during the First Chimurenga.
Father Richartz was another Catholic who could have won a medal, if cruelty to the indigenes were rewarded.
This is a heartless priest who blessed the executions of Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi.
The same Father Richartz baptised Sekuru Kaguvi, sarcastically naming him ‘Dismas’, likening him to the criminal nailed on the cross next to Jesus but later confessed his guilt.
Here, Sekuru Kaguvi had been tricked into confessing that fighting against colonial rule was a sin.
All we are trying to do here is to trace the origins of the hatred of African nationalism by the Catholics.
Even in more recent times, Catholics have been unflinching in their dislike of African nationalism, which they see as embodied in ZANU PF. One of their favourite tricks is to incite the Ndebeles to revolt against the Government, hoping that a country divided on tribal lines might help to dislodge ZANU PF.
That is probably why the CCJPZ’s report on Gukurahundi exaggerated the number of deaths, putting them at 20 000 and limiting the occurrence to Matabeleland.
Of course, it is false that it was limited to Matabeleland and very unrealistic that 20 000 perished. Many other Catholic priests have been handed the baton stick.
Among these is a certain character called Father Nigel Johnson.
This is a modern era Catholic priest who established Radio Dialogue in Bulawayo, a regime change device to fan tribalism by provoking Ndebeles to rebel against the ZANU PF Government.
Enter Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro.
This is the latest Catholic bishop who has unconvincingly tried to promote the regime change agenda.
The Catholic bishops’ pre-election Pastoral Letter speaks highly of the peace and tolerance prevailing in the country.
Where they got the violence and intimidation in their final report, only God knows. The volte-face on the post-election report chaired by Bishop Nyandoro after ZANU PF’s resounding victory is indicative of the disappointment of the Catholics.
Instead of worrying about Zimbabwean politics, the good bishop might perhaps like to play a more significant role in bringing peace and justice to the Catholic Church where so many minors are in misery after abuse by his counterparts.
