A generation still in denial

Published on

THERE is a misconception that the whiteman vasinamabvi/abangela madolo came to Zimbabwe to civilise us the black race.
In fact, it is sad that there are some among us who think the whiteman is our saviour.
This belief is tantamount to madness.
There is no sane individual who can believe that the whiteman travelled for thousands of kilometres, crossing dangerous rivers and mountains, risking all, just to come and help us.
The truth is the whiteman came here to steal, kill and destroy and that is why they stole our land from our ancestors, looted their cattle and made our forefathers slaves in their own country.
The injustices they perpetrated on us can never be forgotten and that is why we fought back in order to get back our land.
That is why thousands of Zimbabweans died liberating this country from colonial bondage.
And 34 years after independence, there are Rhodesians who are still bitter because they lost in the struggle for Zimbabwe.
They still can’t come to terms with the fact that Zimbabweans are now in control of their land and resources.
I am sure what amazes them is a crop among Zimbabweans who have studied the sinister motives of the whiteman from the days of Charles Rudd, David Livingstone, Fredrick Selous, Cecil John Rhodes, Peter Walls to the present day David Coltart, Iain Kay, Eddie Cross and Roy Bennett among others.
That is why of late, Rhodies have been bombarding The Patriot with all sorts of insults on our facebook page and in the process generating a lot of interest.
‘Primates’, ‘kaffirs’, ‘Banana Repulic’ and so forth are some of racist terms being posted on our page.
But we are not disturbed.
In fact, we are delighted that Rhodesians are usually the first to read the truth that we write, including how they stole our land and brutally killed our ancestors.
For example, baptising Sekuru Kaguvi and giving him a new name, ‘Dismas’ (the good thief) before hanging him.
All this in the name of Christianity, what cheek!
The Rhodies’ insults targeting The Patriot are a reflection of a lost generation still in denial because they thought “never in a thousand years will there be majority rule” in Zimbabwe as said by the then Prime Minister of Rhodesia, Ian Smith.
Wherever they are, be it in neighbouring countries or in the Diaspora, Rhodies still long for that era when just about 4 000 of them enjoyed Zimbabwe’s prime farming land while the black majority wallowed in unfertile areas.
Remember Rhodies had relegated blacks to Tribal Trust Lands, dry areas, making black people redundant in their own motherland.
And when President Robert Mugabe implemented the Land Reform Programme that benefitted over 400 000 black households, Rhodesians were livid.
To date still wonder what hit them.
That is why they hate President Mugabe and everything he represents with a passion.
But as the saying goes, you can’t put a good man down and that is why President Mugabe overwhelmingly won last year’s harmonised elections, relegating Morgan Tsvangirai to the dustbins of history.
Rhodesians had pinned their hopes on their quisling Tsvangirai, but then they should have known better.
Now Rhodies are busy posting comments and photographs on their websites reminiscing their ‘good old days’ in Rhodesia when they thrived on the ‘horse and rider partnership’ and enjoying Rhodes and Founders Day.
Well that is now all history.
However we urge Rhodies to keep on reading The Patriot, but we feel pity for you though, the same way we feel sorry for your failed project, MDC that you had invested so much in.
Shame.
