‘Catholics must confess’

Published on

WHEN Catholics assigned a priest, Father Andrew Haartman, to chaplain the band of brigands, the so-called Pioneer Column, who, at the behest of Cecil John Rhodes, were at the forefront of the invasion of our land, the Catholics committed a grave crime against our people.

You do not champion the cause of the devil while pretending to be a man of God.

Today, Catholics celebrate this crime against us by maintaining a school, Haartman House, to commemorate this profligate, costing our children who learn at this institution.

Catholics have a bad record when it comes to how they deal with blacks.

On February 15 1897, at the height of the First Chimurenga, the Catholic clergy, in an intelligence report to the British South Africa Police by Father Biehler, advocated genocide: “Our mode of fighting is not the proper one for Mashonas… It seems to me that the only way of doing anything at all with these natives is to starve them, destroy their lands and kill all that can be killed.”

The Catholics were thus part of the security system of the robber regime.

As part and parcel of the colonial establishment, Catholics were desperate because they could not prevail over the African people.

They decided the only way was to annihilate blacks; to destroy the whole people so that no-one would contest the looting and plunder of the land and its wealth.

Catholics got their reward — 5 600 hectares of prime land which had been ruthlessly robbed off the Chinamhora people.

The Catholics were consistent!

It did not trouble their conscience to accept the loot of our land by the armed robbers.

On this land, they built their Chishawasha Mission.

Rhodes and the Catholics were of the same mind.

They wanted genocide.

Rhodes’ biographers graphically “…describe the bloodlust that seized him as he moved in with the Column from Salisbury, how he would return to the scene of action to count the African corpses, how he told a police officer to spare no-one even if he threw down his arms and implored mercy. You should kill all you can.”

When there is no distinction between the one who says he represents God and he who worships mammon, it is time to take to the hills, time to find the nearest cave!

The Catholics were consistent!

Fr Ritchartz, the Roman Catholic priest from Chishawasha, would say to Mbuya Nehanda, just before they hanged her, she should be baptised and be converted into Catholicism.

It defies logic that the armed robber should suggest to a freedom fighter, who is fighting injustice and utmost cruelty, who is defending the robbery of her God-given heritage by foreign terrorist invaders, that she should abandon a religion that stands for justice and truth, for liberty, the religion of her people, for a religion that stands for murder, looting and plunder of her people in order to disposes them of their God-given heritage.

It was, and it is still, a crime against Nehanda and her people, against the divine.

This armed robbery of our land by the British, in which the Catholics also took part, has cost us, and still costs us heavily as a nation.

In the First Chimurenga alone, we lost over 40 000 lives. Thousands also died in the Second Chimurenga.

The suffering cannot be calculated. And, while we thus struggled and suffered, the British were looting billions from our land — our mineral wealth, flora and fauna.

Catholic liturgy requires that, before Holy Mass is celebrated, participants confess their sins in order to be worthy to celebrate the Holy Sacrament, but Catholics continue to celebrate mass in this land without confessing and repenting of the sin of having been part and parcel of the robbery of our land by the British.

Catholics have not woken up!

Their conscience still slumbers and they are still up in arms against the force of justice, truth and liberty the way they were up in arms against Mbuya Nehanda and would accost her to convert to a religion which was the anti-thesis of her people, her soul.

We fought and liberated this country and Catholics have never been reconciled to us.

Consistently, whenever there are elections in our land, they issue damning reports against the incumbent ZANU PF, vilifying it.

Their enmity against progressive forces, the forces of liberty, the forces which liberated this land, which still defend that this land belongs to the Africans as God so ordained is historical.

It is not coincidence or accident that they were part of the Column of bandits, that they accepted land stolen from our people with the sword, that they advocated genocide in order to completely take over our land and wealth.

The Catholic affair with the MDC is as historical as their enmity against the Africans who they advocated should be annihilated — this to expedite the robbery of their land.

The MDC is the creation of the British for the purpose of reinstating British hegemony over our land and our wealth.

As clearly outlined above, Catholics have consistently worked with the British to rob us of our land.

They are still part of the British imperial arm in our land and that is why ZANU PF is anathema to them.

It is time for Catholics to wake up!
