Fare thee well sis Judy!

Published on

EDITOR — I LEARNT with great sadness and profound shock of the passing on of veteran ZBC TV diplomatic correspondent Judith Makwanya.

Sisi Judy, as we affectionately called you, you have disappointed us.

Matigumbura sisi!

Ko sei nhai sisi?

Sei musina kutaura kuti veduwee ndava kuenda?

Ko iko kwacho kwamaenda kune machair ekugara here? Kune mamicrophone here? Ma piece-to-camera ariko here?

I ran out of words when news started filtering in that you were no more.

It hurts, especially when I consider that it was only on Monday that Caesar Zvayi and Mabasa Sasa were planning to visit you in hospital the following day.

But fate decided otherwise.

And you, strangely for your strength, decided otherwise.

You could not wait for us to visit you.

Perhaps you are waiting for us wherever you are now.

Because like any other mortals we are all coming home.

I still ask you this; why could you not tell us that something was eating you?

Why could you not bare it all, say it all?

We will forever cherish the good moments we shared; the many lessons you taught the upcoming generation.

You were indeed an inspiration, an epitome of class and style and a fount of wisdom.

Sleep well dear, sister!

Till we meet again!

Golden Guvamatanga,

Harare.
