Gone are the days of plunder

EDITOR — I would like to urge all Zimbabweans not to be shaken or turned into doubting Thomases by the West.
Deals we have struck will bear fruit, the West is the one that must be ashamed for exploiting us for years even after we gained our independence.
Empty promises is what the West has made over the years, the trinkets they have thrown to Africa have not resulted in any meaningful development, they have been delivered to prove that the West is a ‘benevolent’ benefactor of Africa.
We will now deal with countries such as China, Brazil and Russia that engage other countries with respect and desiring that they too grow.
Last week the Zimbabwe Power Company sealed a US$1,1 billion agreement with the Chinese firm Sino Hydro, for the expansion of Hwange Power Station.
The 600 megawatts that will be added to the national grid will play a pivotal role in boosting production in the local manufacturing industry as shortage of power was a major concern by our companies.
This is what we are talking about when we say we must not doubt.
The time when America and other European countries dominated the world is long gone, new superpowers that Africa respects have emerged and the continent is ready to do business with them.
Africa has vast resources not found anywhere else in the world and these the West must be rest assured that they will not be exploited.
Gone are the days of plunder, Africa and Zimbabwe will cooperate and work with nations that show us respect.
