EDITOR – I MUST say I am impressed by efforts being made by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to fight crime particularly cases of increased armed robberies and rape in the country.
In Harare for instance, I am constantly coming across members of the ZRP addressing the general public about the increasing armed robbers roaming the streets and the need for people to take precautionary measures in order to ensure safety.
These efforts by the ZRP will go a long way in combating crime in the country. According to members of the ZRP last week, the general public is being advised to avoid private transport especially at night.
The usual passenger transport including buses and commuter omnibuses, (kombis) are being recommended instead.
The dubious private vehicles that were being said to be commonly used these days by robbers include the Ipsum, Raum and Toyota Altezza among others.
I believe such information must be seriously taken by the public because there are dangerous criminals out there and they do not care who you are.
As progressive citizens of Zimbabwe, please let us unite and fight crime.
It is also our duty to help the ZRP.
