Is the FBI rigging the US election?

Published on

WITH the election set for November 8, Americans are behaving like last-minute shoppers and up to the day of the election, we can expect more and more ludicrous accusations and allegations as politicians make a final bid to woo voters.
At the beginning of the week, we awoke to the news that the FBI had given the Hillary Clinton campaign another unpleasant surprise on Monday when the former released the heavily redacted files concerning the controversial presidential pardon of Marc Rich by the then President Bill Clinton.
Among the files are 129 pages of documents from a 2001 investigation into Bill Clinton’s controversial presidential pardon of fugitive Marc Rich.
The FBI further drew attention to these documents’ release by tweeting about it.
We all know the power of social media and by tweeting about the documents release, the FBI inadvertently de-campaigned Hillary Clinton.
All this comes just days after FBI director James Comey made a stunning announcement that the FBI was looking into newly discovered emails related to its investigation of Hillary Clinton.
Back to the recently released documents, the bulk of these records come from a 2001 FBI investigation into the pardon of Marc Rich.
The material is heavily redacted due to personal privacy protections and grand jury secrecy rules.
Rich, who died in 2013, was a financier who fled to Switzerland after being indicted on multiple federal charges, including tax evasion in 1983.
Clinton’s motive for pardoning Rich on his last day in office was questioned because Rich’s ex-wife, Denise Rich, was a wealthy Democratic donor who made a
US$450 000 donation to Clinton’s presidential library foundation and more than US$100 000 to Hillary Clinton’s senate campaign.
A former adviser to President Obama, David Axelrod said the documents’ release is another case of the FBI intervening in the election.
There is really nothing new the documents can reveal.
What it does is to just steer negative sentiments about the Clintons and the expected ending would be to put off would-be supports of Hillary Clinton, thus giving Donald Trump an edge.
The news that the FBI has reopened its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server to send, receive and store Government emails has handed Trump another unexpected boost ahead of next Tuesday.
According to The Telegraph, the FBI has obtained a warrant to begin searching newly discovered emails belonging to Huma Abedin, a top aide of Hillary.
There is no sign this new investigation will be completed by election day and it seems Clinton will have to fight the final week of her campaign with unspecified allegations hanging over her.
In light of this news, Hillary’s standing in the polls shows that the voters now doubt her and this is chipping away at her chances of winning the elections.
The Telegraph’s poll of polls, which takes an average of the last five polls published on RealClearPolitics reports that Hillary still retains a lead, but this could change in the coming days with some polls now showing a far closer race.
The ABC News poll for the first time this week, since May, showed that Trump and Hillary were now neck-and-neck in the presidential race.
According to ABC News, Trump is one point ahead of Hillary; however, an average of national polls puts Hillary Clinton ahead by four points.
The Clinton campaign has not taken this alleged attempt by the FBI to manipulate the elections lying down.
One of the campaign managers, Robby Mook, has questioned why the FBI has not released any information about its investigation into Russia’s role in the US election or ties to Trump and his senior aides.
Speaking to CNN, Mook all but called out the FBI saying that it has entered into the business of revealing information on presidential candidates and as such should also provide documents regarding its investigations into Trump.
Apparently, the FBI opened a preliminary inquiry into allegations that Trump or his associates might have had questionable dealings with Russian individuals or businesses, but found no evidence to warrant opening a full investigation, according to sources familiar with the matter, (that would be the FBI).
Well, all I have to say about this is, if the FBI can ‘rig’ elections in favour of one candidate within the US, what other nasty little secrets and operations is the US establishment hiding that have to do with manipulations of elections in the developing world.
