Let us rally behind the new ZIFA president

Published on

EDITOR — The ZIFA elections have come and gone.
We all had candidates we wanted to win for various reasons.
But now we have a president, Philip Chiyangwa.
Some of us had misgivings about him; we thought he was a rich clown with no business getting involved in the most beautiful game.
Zimbabwe football is presently fraught with numerous challenges, from lack of funds to poor administration.
Thus Mr Chiyangwa has his work cut out.
I am writing to appeal to all Zimbabweans to set aside personal differences and dislikes and fully support the new president.
We must support Zimbabwean football and not spend time worrying about personal issues or engaging in activities fuelled by hate.
What I am saying is whether we like him or not, let us give the businessman the opportunity to prove himself.
Let us not set him up for failure.
Let us give him all our support, success at ZIFA will not be Chiyangwa’s success but Zimbabwe’s success.
All stakeholders must fully support the association.
And I hope Mr Chiyangwa will take football business seriously.
All the best, we hope you will transform local soccer.
