Let’s all rally behind the new dispensation

Published on

EDITOR — Let me start by saying I am proud to be Zimbabwean, especially in the context of the many great things that have been happening since November 13 2017 and those that are about to happen in our beloved country.
We have had an economy that has suffered from lack of investment and stagnation and what the new dispensation brings is renewed hope that, at last, the economy can now have a fresh breath and a new lease of life.
I am encouraged by the positive signals that came from the recently-held World Economic Forum (WEF)in Davos, Switzerland, last week. For the first time in many years, investors across the world want to pour in their money to rescue our ailing economy.
This is a sign that the world is now ready to do business with Zimbabwe and that we need to rally behind the new dispensation and play our part in the development of the country.
We need to make it possible for the new investors who are coming to invest in the country.
They need a conducive environment so that they can recoup dividends from their investments.
In order to do this, we must end endemic corruption that has been scaring away investors. We also need to work hard at all our duty stations.
The development of this country is not President Emmerson Mnangagwa or ZANU PF’s business alone, it is everyone’s duty to play a role.
Criticism is welcome and healthy, but it does not have to be criticising for the sake of criticising; we need constructive criticism which can help those in power execute their duty.
I hope that we will all unite for the development of our country.

Prosper Mashaya,
Bulawayo
