MDC-T’s spectacular own goal

Published on

EDITOR – I WRITE to express my disdain over the way the MDC Alliance has chosen to embarrass the country by going to the US to lobby for Uncle Sam’s illegal economic sanctions against Zimbabwe to be maintained.
What I find exasperating is that at a time every Zimbabwean is working towards rebuilding the country, some in our midst find it prudent to fly all the way to the US to insult the country.
It is a known fact that the new dispensation has all, but sealed the MDC’s fate and the only way for the embattled opposition party, in their warped view, is for them to push for the maintenance of the sanctions that have hurt the country.
They forget that the same America that they are talking to is the same US that observed Kenyan elections which have been associated with all sorts of problems.
In the same vein, the US cannot be a global prefect when it comes to elections, given how chaotic theirs have been.
It is disturbing that the MDC arms itself with the issue of sanctions as key to their ascendancy to power.
Over the years, the MDC has claimed that there are no sanctions in the country.
What has changed now?
I believe that they must be charged for complicity in causing untold suffering to the people of Zimbabwe through their continued support of the economic sanctions.
The good thing though is that the new administration is going to develop this economy.
The MDC Alliance has without doubt scored a spectacular own goal.
