Mshikashikas endangering lives

Published on

EDITOR — I am a concerned citizen who is displeased with the raging issue of kombi drivers picking up people at undesignated places popularly known as Mshikashika.
The Mshikashikas have become a menace and are endangering the lives of many innocent people.
The police and city fathers promised to effectively deal with these illegal operators but it seems nothing is happening on the ground.
The message from the two authorities was that they were going to rid the city centre of this mess and emphasise on the need for operators to use designated areas.
The Corner of Mbuya Nehanda and Nelson Mandela for instance is one of the places being used as Mshikashika for Norton and Kuwadzana and there is a lot of confusion at that area.
On Monday this week, a man was killed at Corner Julias Nyerere and Robert Mugabe because of this Mshikashika problem.
How many more people should die before action is taken.
The cat and mouse game between the authorities and illegal operators must come to an end as a matter of urgency.
