No to unjustified price hikes

Published on

EDITOR— I would like to express my disappointment with the recent unjustified price hike on basic commodities.
I would also like to commend the Government for its timely intervention in rescuing Zimbabweans from the now customary habit of profiteering.
What we have not been told is what triggered the price hike in the first place but it is clear that this is nothing short of sabotage and an attempt to incite the people to turn against the Government.
This is a Government that is still finding its feet and already there are positive signs that we are headed for good times.
The signing of two crucial deals by the Afreximbank and China worth US$1,7 billion, is without doubt, a sign that the economy is headed for good times.
Why someone finds it prudent to increase prices in times like these, beats the mind.
Are these people for us, or they are against us?
Are we walking the same path with these people or they simply want to undo the many positives that our economy has scored thus far?
It becomes more confusing especially when considering the statement by the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GAMZ) that the price of flour to bakeries had not changed.
So what is going on?
As we move into the future, it is imperative that Government puts in place measures to curtail any unjustified increases as these put an unnecessary burden on the consumers.
We need to be united as a country and help develop our economy.
