NTA mumbo jumbo

Published on

THE foreign-owned press in this country are writing week-in-week-out stories pushing the case for what they have come to call a National Transitional Authority (NTA).
Since this silly talk of the need to create a so-called NTA in a very stable country, Zimbabwe, which has a fully functioning Government and Constitution is highly misleading and pretty dangerous, it is our aim in this article to show that the so-called NTA is pure political mumbo jumbo and so patriotic Zimbabweans must not pay any attention to it.
The Zimbabwe Independent of September 23 to 29 2016, in an article titled ‘Zimbabwe Stakeholders tackle crisis’ written by Ibbo Mandaza and Tony Reeler discussed in quite some detail why there is need for a so-called NTA.
The ‘paper’ says there is a political crisis in Zimbabwe.
It goes on to say because of the crisis in the country, there is need to set up an NTA most probably to run the country until 2018, at which point the so-called crisis would be over.
Why in particular should we have an NTA to run the country, people ask?
The paper provides an answer to the above question.
“There are a variety of solutions (to the crisis) looming on the horizon, fostered by the Government, political parties and international interest bodies.
None will be able to fully resolve the political crisis in a manner that will satisfy the aspiration of the populace.
A Government of National Unity too will be unlikely to lead to the needed changes.
Early elections are again no panacea.
A resolution of the succession crisis is not also a solution.”
Now what is the solution?
Answer; an NTA.
Various political parties and civil society groupings have argued for an NTA.
The question that immediately comes to the fore is: What is this divine set-up called NTA?
Are we talking of a state of anarchy here, we all wonder?
The Standard, a sister paper to the Zimbabwe Independent, in an effort to explain what the NTA would be, said in its issue of October 25 to 1 2016.
“One promising initiative is the formation of a NTA proposed by citizens organised in the panel of concerned citizens.
Basically NTA would be a non–party administration composed of respected technocrats and professionals.
It would depend on the current Parliament and Judiciary and other arms of Government.”
This again is anarchism writ large.
From all the confused talk of a NTA above, you can see that we are now in mumbo jumbo territory full of phrase mongering, hypocrisy, anarchism confusion and political chicanery.
The NTA talk says all political parties will go.
All leaders will go.
All ideas and Government in power will go.
Yes, everything will go and all that will remain is the magical NTA.
Now here is the question: If all political parties, partisanship, Government, everything are exterminated from Zimbabwe, by what means will members who will form the NTA get into power?
Will the people of Zimbabwe get the NTA to lead them the same way the Jews got the 10 Commandments from God?
How on earth can political parties or any form of partisanship be avoided wherever any form of government is being put in place?
How?
Mind you the NTA itself will be a government.
The two newspapers try to provide the answers.
The Standard says the NTA will use Parliament, Judiciary etc as like today. This means the present Government will be removed from power first by a coup of whatever shape or size to be replaced by the NTA.
Coups are not necessarily done by the military.
We all know whenever a coup has happened, the coup plotters do not remove Parliament, Judiciary, Ministries etc from existence.
They will rely on these institutions for their rule.
And so be warned, the NTA is meant, as far as The Standard is concerned, to bring about a coup in Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe Independent gives us a hint as to how the NTA will come into being from their perspective as it said: “A conference to discuss Zimbabwe’s transition will be held in South Africa on September 26 – 27 featuring politicians, activists, academics, researchers and intellectuals.”
Here it is quite clear that the so-called NTA will be created by outside forces and then imposed on Zimbabwe.
All the same, if the NTA is imposed from outside, it will get into power by way of a coup because it will have come into power without following our Constitution.
It will have removed a legitimate Government from power by unconstitutional means.
The so-called independent media must stop misleading Zimbabweans about a so-called NTA.
First, there is no crisis in the country at all and there shall be no NTA in this country because there is no need for one.
All the political changes that are going to happen in this country must abide by the Constitution.
Let us look at what our Constitution says about transitional arrangements.
“Government succession. Part 4 Section 14 (4) if the person elected President in any election dies, resigns or is removed from office the vacancy in the office of President must be filled by a nominee of a political party which the President represented when he or she stood for election.”
It is therefore very clear that there is nowhere in our Constitution for a NTA to replace a Government or President who leaves office before his/her term expires.
In our case anyway, President Mugabe only leaves office when his term expires.
Where then is this talk about an NTA coming from?
Are these people calling for an NTA hatching to plot a coup?
It certainly won’t happen in Zimbabwe.
