Paseka, Passover a time for reflection

Published on

IN all endeavours there must be a time to pause, to stop, to take a break, to breathe and take stock.
And the Easter holidays present us with the perfect opportunity to reflect, it might be a Jewish holiday to remember an important time in the existence of the Jews but we must use it to take stock of our affairs.
While we go about celebrating this tradition it would not be amiss to think and meditate upon the strides we have thus far made.
Our detractors would like us to believe, think and feel that we are going nowhere.
Our nation is going through a trying and difficult phase but we have won the most difficult battle, refusal of imposition of foreign elements or their puppets and now all we need it to get our systems working again.
But as we daily grind some of us are despairing feeling that there is no finishing line.
A break will reinvigorate us and keep us on the track.
The Easter Holidays comes at a time when the first quarter of the year comes to a close.
And without doubt so much has been going on for us.
This is a good time to audit our efforts.
We must ensure that we remain firmly on the course of our development agenda.
Let us relook at our strategies, both the small and big player, in the private and public sectors.
The liquidity crunch continues to prevail but we are a nation fighting and not sitting on its laurels.
There are some among us that seem to find it difficult to be positive and thrive on lambasting the country’s institutions without proffering solutions.
These must use this period to meditate and make a decision whether they will face the challenges head on or continue to whine.
Elsewhere in the paper we read of Zimbos that have pledged to fight and die for Britain and Australia.
I urge these and many others of their kind that see it worthwhile to offer their lives to protect and promote foreign lands over theirs to reconsider and serve their nation first.
Obviously the Easter Holidays will be a time for prayer while the tricksters will be out to spoil the mood of the holiday by embarking on various criminal activities.
Thus as we feast, pray and play let us remain conscious of the various dangers lurking in the shadows.
We hope that the drivers on our roads will exercise caution on the roads and prevent the carnage that has characterised past holidays.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police must be out in full force and not be deterred by errant drivers and individuals bent on disregarding the law.
The transport operator will see shura in the thousands rushing to get to various places to celebrate whatever it is that they celebrate but please ensure that your vehicles are in good working condition.
And please rest your workers do not overwork them doing so has disastrous consequences, fatigue is one of the major reason for accidents on our roads.
I hope we come back from the holidays refreshed.
I wish you a safe and peaceful paseka.
