Patriotism versus treachery

Published on

IT looks like the July 31 resounding defeat of the MDC by ZANU PF was such a heavy blow to the regime change advocates that to this day they are still seeing stars.
So confused are they that, they are not ashamed to advance ridiculous lies to discredit this victory, which was endorsed by, among others, international observers and regional groupings.
And one obvious conduit for such trash is non-other than the so-called non- governmental organisations (NGOs), which as we have already pointed out in past publications, were at the forefront of regime change manoeuvres
Nondumiso Sibanda in her contribution in this week’s publication, hits the nail on the head when she points out that Zimbabwe’s Human Rights Commission is a rich gold mine for NGOs.
Human rights is such a wide field that an NGO can claim almost anything to justify claim for funding from donors, that are not even well versed with the happenings in this country.
We don’t have to go very far.
In this edition we publish the views of top NGO official in Zimbabwe.
A certain dubious character called, Arthur Gwagwa has appealed on behalf of a coalition of human rights organisations, to the US’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee to maintain sanctions against Zimbabwe.
What is annoying about Gwagwa’s case to the US Senate are the blatant lies he submits to entice support.
The MDC lost the election fair and square and one of the major reasons why they lost was their support for the illegal sanctions.
And yet Gwagwa a whole lawyer, who is Zimbabwean for that matter, spews fictitious nonsense to the US Senate about the validity of the historic July 31 polls.
This plus other lies about alleged human rights violations were carefully selected to please donors so that more funds would be availed.
Gwagwa and the human rights groups he speaks for do not seem at all worried about the devastating effects the illegal sanctions are having on their country.
Judas Iscariot sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver and in Gwagwa, we have our own version of a modern day traitor.
But there are many like-minded Zimbabweans including a glut of lawyers, who through our education system, have passed through the hands of characters like Professor Geoff Feltoe at the University of Zimbabwe law faculty.
The temptation by a substantial number of black Zimbabweans to betray their own heritage in order to curry favour with white capital is laid bare by a Grade Six pupil referred to elsewhere in this publication.
When David Gandifere who is based in the UK got the opportunity to visit the House of Commons, he decided to take the bull by the horns.
He asked the British PM David Cameron when his government was going to lift sanctions on his country.
He got no response.
Gandifere, like the vast majority of other Zimbabweans who overwhelmingly voted for ZANU PF on July 31, realises that illegal sanctions imposed by the West, Britain included, are adversely affecting innocent people.
The misconception by the West and their NGOs that sanctions will induce Zimbabweans to revolt against ZANU PF was confirmed on July 31.
This time a Grade Six pupil has shown that he knows that the cause of sanctions-induced problems in his country is David Comeron and not President Robert Mugabe.
The concern by Gandifere over the effects of sanctions on his country and Gwagwa’s advocacy for their intensification is a poignant reminder of the difference between patriotism and treachery present in our country.
