PSL for Kariba?

Published on

ZIMBABWE Power Company Kariba FC has a golden opportunity of bringing top flight football to the resort town of Kariba.
ZPC Kariba are occupying pole position in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League with 65 points from 29 games.
They are enjoying a seven point gap ahead of second-placed Twalumba FC.
The power utility side will need to win at least three games to take an unassailable lead to secure the sole Northern Region Division One Soccer League ticket into the premiership.
Fired by two gunslingers Raphael Manuwire and former Dynamos striker Tineyi Chitora, the Kariba- based outfit have shown character in the competitive Northern Region.
To reach 65 points, ZPC Kariba won 20 games, drew five and lost four.
Since deposing Flame Lily from the top of the log, the Kariba-based side have never surrendered the pole position.
With the premiership heading for the resort town of Mashonaland West, Kariba residents will be the happiest as they will watch premiership action in their habitat.
Affectionately known as Gwenya ReChamhembe, the promotion of the team will help in spreading the game outside the capital which boasts of seven teams (including Black Rhinos) plying their trade in the top flight.
Though its promotion will increase the teams’ travelling costs, the team will help in tapping talent from Kariba and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, Chapungu, Hippo Valley and Bulawayo Chiefs have qualified for promotion into the PSL.
The promotion means the Midlands capital, Gweru will be witnessing premiership action while Triangle will have two teams in the top flight, Hippo Valley and Triangle FC.
