Rhodesians still bitter and dreaming

Published on

RHODESIANS are upset.
They are livid because The Patriot keeps exposing them every week.
Their comments on our website and facebook page tell a story of a bitter people who still can’t come to terms with the fact that Rhodesia is dead and buried.
Their remarks are a clear indication that they still dream of their so-called ‘God’s own country’.
Strange isn’t it that Zimbabwe attained independence 34 years ago, but there are still some white folks who think that one day they shall return to Zimbabwe and turn it into Rhodesia again.
They actually have their website Rhodesians Worldwide where some will be reminiscing their ‘good old days’.
I suppose one can excuse them for their daydreaming, but one thing we won’t accept is for them to insult us because we got back what was ours in the first place, our land, Zimbabwe.
Yes white people came on the pretext of spreading Christianity and civilisation, yet their real motive was to steal our land and all our resources.
As if that was not enough, they went further to abuse and enslave us in our own country and when we retaliated, they called us ‘terrorists’.
In fact, they never imagined that one day black people would rise and claim what rightfully belongs to them.
So this is the message that The Patriot has been preaching all along.
That black people must not be afraid of the whiteman.
That from the onset, it is the same whiteman who came to Africa to steal and destroy so black people have every right to defend their sovereignty.
As Zimbabweans we must always draw inspiration from our heroes who sacrificed their lives for us to be independent.
Recently, Rhodesians were commemorating the death of their former Prime Minister Ian Smith who died on November 22 2007.
But how many Zimbabweans know that our very own decorated hero General Josiah Tongogara grew up in Shurugwi at a farm owned by the Smiths?
How many Zimbabweans know the injustices that General Tongogara witnessed at the farm that eventually led him to dedicate his life to free Zimbabwe from colonial bondage?
These are some of the issues we must relay to our children in order for them to understand that our independence did not just ‘pop up’.
They must know where we came from in order to understand where we are going and it remains our duty as parents to enlighten our children so that in future they will understand the psyche of the whiteman.
That the whiteman has permanent interests and not permanent friends.
Please note that this is not an attack on Rhodesians who continue to denigrate The Patriot, but we are simply telling the truth as it is, without fear or favour.
Call us apes, primates and so on, but we will not stop reminding Rhodesians that very soon they are already a lost generation.
We will not stop reminding them of the fact that despite their so-called ‘supremacy’ they lost the war to us black people.
We will not stop reminding Rhodesians that they fought a war they were destined to lose anyway.
