IT is not going to be an easy proces to select this season’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) finest footballers in the country.
Those who have excelled will be selected by the media, football officials and coaches.
November 23 is the day that the top performers will be selected and earn some dollars for their efforts.
Sixteen teams make up the Premier Soccer League while only 11 players make it to the soccer star finalists meaning not every team will be represented.
Below are some of the teams likely to contribute to Zimbabwe’s best 11.
Highlanders
The country’s oldest club has some gems in the team and last season, Masimba Mambare was first runner-up to the Soccer Star-of-the-Year.
He has had good game time this year and Warriors call ups.
In fact he captains the locally-based Warriors.
Peter ‘Rio’ Moyo has been a marvel too this season and is another soccer star finalist hopeful.
He has been instrumental in Bosso’s 2013 campaign.
Munyaradzi Diya has had a fantastic season and no doubt he should be one of the finalists.
His Warriors call-up and his outstanding performance at Highlanders is likely to earn him recognition.
Mthulisi Maphosa may also make it in the top 11 despite his limited game time.
Dynamos
The Harare giants provided last year’s soccer star Denver Mukamba. This year, Dynamos have some soccer star finalist hopefuls.
Ocean Mushure, who missed that slot last year on match-fixing allegations, might make it this year.
He has been a marvel at the Glamour Boys and the national team. Tawanda Muparati had

a season of mixed fortunes while Partson Jaure played fairly well, but the indiscipline in the later stages of the season may make him ineligible for selection.
Devon Chafa could have been a soccer-star hopeful, but his suspension on doping allegations has spoiled his selection.
George Chigova has also been a revelation and his inclusion might not be surprising among the country’s best 11.
Caps United
The Green Machine have played fairly better than last year’s performance when they failed to make it into the top eight.
Some gems are in CAPS United’s camp.
Ronald Pfumbidzai has had a good season after joining the Green Machine from First Division.
Dominic Chungwa and Hardlife Zvirekwi also made headlines at CAPS.
Tafadzwa Dube, could make it again onto the final 11 as the former FC Platinum goalie has maintained his form.
Chicken Inn
The Bulawayo-based outfit has two if not three soccer star finalist hopefuls.
Felix Chindungwe, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Tendai Ndoro are some of the pearls at Chicken Inn.
Chindungwe lost form making him a doubtful while the two youngsters may make it.
Ndoro may make it as a Golden boot winner while last season’s Rookie of the Year Mahachi may make another appearance on the soccer star calendar.
FC Platinum
The white metal miners have some of the best and experienced players in their camp.
However, it might not be surprising that no one from the Zvishavane-based outfit make it to the football hall of fame for next year.
Donald Ngoma, Ali Sadiki and Charles Sibanda are some of yesteryear soccer star finalists.
Shabanie Mine
The asbestos miners are a team of average players.
However, out of the well-knit team, some have excelled more than others.
Pervington Zimunya, Valentine Ndaba and goalkeeper Victor Twaliki have been some of the most outstanding players.
Eria Phiri also made his presence felt in the season.
Harare City
The Sunshine Boys have made an impact in their second season of the premiership.
They have midfielder Nathan Ziwini, Silas Songani, defender Witness Nyamutsaka and striker Osborne Mukuradare who have been outstanding at City.
Songani is definitely one of the soccer star finalists as his prowess will earn him selection.
How Mine
The gold miners have been a team full of experienced players. Timothy January is one player who should get recognition in his debut premiership season.
The pacey midfielder has been instrumental in How Mine’s success. The midfielder backed by experienced players has not disappointed and deserves his credit.
Hwange
The going has been tough for Hwange who lost several players before the season began.
However, Hwange have nurtured Eric Chipeta, one of the soccer stars-of-the-year hopefuls.
The talented right back has been instrumental in his team’s success. The right footed Chipeta is no doubt a cut above the rest and deserves selection.
Last year Rodwell Chinyengetere – sidelined on injury – made it on the calendar.
Black Mambas
The police side have had a satisfactory season.
It’s another team full of average players, but Nicholas Alifandika proved to be the gem at Morris Depot.
Alifandika is a soccer star finalist hopeful to join 11 others.
Motor Action
They were relegated, but the Mighty Bulls have Passmore Bernard who deserves to be on the calendar as the energetic right back has been a vital cog in the Motor Action team.
He is probably one of the best right backs in the country, but has not got much recognition.
Triangle
Limited Chikafa captained the debutants, but his experience is not anything to write home about.
Left back Blessing Chimwamuchere is one player to consider from the Triangle camp.
Monomotapa
Ronald Chitiyo is one of the players likely to be selected.
Rooney, as the pint-sized midfielder is affectionately known, may get the favour and again appear on the calendar next year.
Buffaloes
The Mutare-based outfit have Wonder Sithole to talk about.
The former Dynamos midfielder has had enough game time at Sakubva, but it will be a surprise to see him among the best 11.
Tripple B
Timire Mamvura and Alick Marima are the only silver lining in the dark Tripple B cloud.
Mamvura has been a regular, but his best might not win him a place on the soccer stars.
He could be the scorer of the goal of the season.
Marima has been banging goals for the Beitbridge side, but it’s doubtful if any player from Dulibadzimu will make it.
Black Rhinos
Nothing much to write home about for the soldiers, but they have some gems in Philip Marufu and Lot Chiwunga who have made their names at Rhinos, but they may not make it on the best 11.
The Patriot’s Best 11
1. MasimbaMambare
2. Silas Songani
3. Eric Chipeta

6. George Chigova
