EDITOR — I WAS very much disturbed by the death of an innocent pedestrian, who was recently knocked down by a commuter omnibus downtown in Harare.
I know there is this running battle between the police and commuter omnibus drivers, but as we can all see, many people have lost their lives in the process.
In fact quite a number have been hit by these commuter omnibuses.
I don’t know what the police can do, but the sooner we find a solution to these running battles, the better.
Still on drivers, I think the law must be stiff on drivers without licences.
They are very dangerous on the road.
Many accidents happen during this festive season and we must all agree that driving without a licence is being very irresponsible.
Editor I must encourage our police officers especially from the traffic section to carry out their duties diligently and professionally.
Let me also take this opportunity to encourage my fellow Zimbabweans to enforce citizen arrest.
We must unite in fighting against irresponsible drivers who put our lives at risk.
Don’t let them drive when they are drunk.
Let me also take this opportunity to remind transport operators and vehicle owners that it is a crime to give an unqualified driver a motor vehicle.
We must not take our lives for granted. Let us stay safe on our roads.
