EDITOR- I greet you in the name of Musikavanhu, the Almighty who through His mercy has taken us this far as a people and nation. This is a year of hope and promise. There is little doubt that many of us have stuck to the usual ritual of writing down our new year’s resolutions which we hope to achieve by year-end. It was not easy to achieve some of the resolutions last year owing to the somewhat bad performance of the economy.
But this was the same year that Zimbabwe finally woke up to show the world what it is about and the potential it has at its disposal in terms of the strength of its economy when it performs at its best.
However, this year many say the economy is likely to grow if there is electricity and the Chinese mega deals are implemented and we hope that this happens so that our lives can improve.
For the ordinary Zimbabwean, a growing economy translates to food on the table and being able to have some buying power which many people do not have.
The US dollar has increasingly become hard to find. I would like to urge Government to find ways in which people’s lives can be improved by engaging all necessary players to make the economy thrive again.
