Sanganai /Hlanganai World Travel & Toursim Afica Fair 2013
The sixth edition of the country’s premier tourism showcased, Sanganai/Hlanganani – World Travel & Tourism Africa Fair was successfully held at the Harare International Conference Centre, from October 10 to 12 2013.
The event was well attended by both local and foreign participants, surpassing the previous editions in terms of both space taken and the number of participants.
Sanganai/Hlanganani created a very good platform of interaction and meeting for local and foreign tourism operators under one roof, according the event a ‘where the world meets Africa’ status.
Sanganai/Hlanganani has seen an exponential growth since its inception in 2008.
The 2013 edition has so far been the biggest in terms of exhibitor numbers and space taken.
At the end of the exhibition the following had been recorded:
l 1 463 exhibitors had been recorded, representing a 21 percent increase from 1 200 exhibitors for the year 2012
l This year’s event occupied 6009 m2 representing a 17 percent increase from the year 2012.
l The fair had 275 stands of various sizes compared to 248 in 2012.
l Out of the 275 stand, 91 stands were foreign stands. Last year, 85 foreign stands were taken.
l 208 foreign exhibitors participated this year coming from 16 countries.
l Foreign exhibitors occupied space amounting to 771 m2 representing 14 percent of the total exhibition space.
Business Conducted
An evaluation of the amount of business generated by exhibitors at Sanganai was done, with all deals and potential deals amounting to US$300million when put in monetary values. One company managed to strike deals worth around US$1 500 000 with an Indian based company and other local firms. Another organisation was also approached by an international and were hoping to conclude deals which might amount to US$2 million.
Although some exhibitors did not want to open up, the monetary value of business conducted might be way above US$4 million.
