A mindset for ED

ZIMBABWE has been blessed with a highly motivated leader who is committed to progress, growth and development.

What we have in the Second Republic is not a leader who merely talks but walks the talk, a number of projects underway and those already completed can testify to this incontrovertible fact.

Nevertheless, having a benevolent leader is not enough on it’s own, but also, a motivated and positively inspired people is required for us to achieve Vision 2030 which aims to attain an upper-middle income country by then.

Applying a positive mind and attitude on issues that have to do with developing and transforming Zimbabwe is aptly in line with the mantra, Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaikazi balo, a pan-African philosophy that justifies the view that building a nation is not only a prerogative of the President but it is every Zimbabwean’s duty and responsibility.

This means every Zimbabwean either male or female has to use his/her God given talent towards the building of a Zimbabwe that we want.

Informed by the Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaikazi balo frame work and philosophy, a mindset for Economic Development might be perceived as a state of mind where a people take a deliberate choice to be in/take charge, control and responsibility of their own national affairs, manipulating situations to create a desired or envisioned future and destiny.

In this regard, our envisiomed future is an upper middle income society by 2030, a dream so big that is emanating from our firm belief and conviction that as Africans, we have inherent capability and capacity to successfully build and develop our nations the way we want, without expecting external forces or an outsider to do so for us. Thus, a mindset for ED can also be viewed as a positive mental decision that is taken, shared and held collectivelly by the citizens of a particular state as a way to ensure success and prosperity of a nation.

Such a desire to think and act collectively upon a shared dream or vision of creating an upper middle income society by 2030 has seen the formation of relevant organisations and groups such as Men Believe ED, Teachers for Economic Development, the Varsity Students for Economic Development, among others.

We genuinely need more of such organisations, and the formation of such groups can never be criticized by a sane patriotic Zimbabwean who wishes to see the rise of a Great Zimbabwe.

Admittedly, our beloved nation is grappling with a myriad of challenges which requires urgent solutions, but these do not lie only in the president’s hands but also in every Zimbabwean’s, either home or abroad.

The unjustified sanctions which are imposed on Zimbabwe by Britain and America have seriously crippled our economy, negatively impacting the livelihoods of many, turning many Zimbabweans into a state of hopelessness and uncertainty. Nevertheless, like so many other winners, a Mindset for ED maintains that challenges are part and parcel of life and they were meant to be overcome, no matter how great they might seem to appear.

In the face of harsh sanctions as well as subotage from detractors within and outside, Zimbabwe under the Second Republic has been making significant progress in various sectors of the economy.

This we owe to the visionary leadership of President ED Mnangagwa as well as those patriotic and resilient citizens who support the President’s vision of building a Great Zimbabwe, being spurred by a positive belief that everything is possible.

It all starts with a positive mindset.

Guided by the philosophy, Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaikazi balo, and as a nation with an interestingly higher literacy level, let us use the knowledge that we have towards nation building rather than promoting, advancing and serving the interests of colonialists.

Let us possess a mentality that is informed and shaped by the spirit of pan-Africanism and put concerted effort towards the building of a Great Zimbabwe.

Let us refuse the exploitative and parasitic stance of the imperialists and strengthen among ourselves a mindset that put first, and promote the interests of Zimbabwe and Africa, and anything contrary should be shunned as unpatriotic.

Being educated enough to possess a critical mind that is quick to perceive problems within our country is not enough but that perceptive mind should also be innovatively quick to devise and formulate possible solutions to the challenges that are bedeviling our nation.

What Zimbabwe needs are more responsible youths who positively believe they are the force required to propel the economy towards Vision 2030.

Our country needs young boys and girls who look at problems with the intention of offering solutions rather than merely criticizing and complaining.

You are that citizen to offer solutions that are much needed in Zimbabwe not anyone else.

At wherever you are and with whatever you have, play your part and be counted among Zimbabwe’s living valuable possessions.

Sharing the same vision with our leader takes us where we want to be, but complaining, criticising and subotaging does not, it makes the journey longer.

One does not need wait to get into power for him/her to start using the brilliant ideas, talents and gifts that he/she might possess because Zimbabwe needs them now, use them now, the nation wants them now.

Avenues are always there that allows you to put forward your much needed ideas, an expansive room has been created for you to demonstrate and exercise your natural talents and gifts which are requisite towards the realization of Vision 2030.

In addition to this, a listening ear has been set before us, a listening President who is always willing to take advice and opinion directly from the people, humbly accepting and acknowledging that the voice of the people is the voice of God.

As such, let us harness such an opportunity and rally bihind our President in sowing and nurturing seeds of prosperity that would one day grow and bloom into a Great Zimbabwe, bearing fruits that posterity  shall enjoy with pride, appreciating the hardwork and sacrifice of their forebears.

Our rich history that was born out of a protracted liberation struggle, which is also a product of the sacrifices by our brave men and women in Zimbabwe, have presented us with a much convincing precedent; everything is possible if men and women unite to fight the common enemy with the intention of achieving a common good.

Resisting old tactics of divide and rule, neo-colonialism, exploitation, unlawful interference in the domestic affairs of our sovereign state, corruption, as well as calling for an immediate removal of unjustified sanctions is a fight for the common good, a struggle that requires us as a people to unite and fight with the same mind and commitment.

Rather than taking sides with the architects of unjustified coersive sanctions, let us oppenly take the side of our democratically elected leader Cde ED Mnangagwa, which is the side of the people, and build a Zimbabwe that we want, brick by brick, stone upon stone.

Having resources in abundance at our disposal, both human and material, all that we require now is a positively inspired people, men and women who believe in themselves, men and women who believe in Economic Development.

A Blackman is also capable of achieving greatness the same way other races do, don’t be deceived, don’t be fooled and don’t be misled.

Let us not only give our president a chance but let us also give him unwavering support that is required to achieve the 2030 dream and vision.

Considering the development trajectory that has been taken by President ED and also taking into consideration what he has already achieved so far, it is reasonable and fair to give him the necessry chance and support that he needs to realize the 2030 dream of an upper middle income society.

Our president has envisioned it and believes it is possible, so let us also be optimistic and believe it is absolutely possible. With a positive mindset for Economic Development, Zimbabwe shall be Great Again.
