Manyuchi takes on Gallordo

A MAJOR boxing feast is on this Saturday as celebrated boxer

Charles Manyuchi battles Argentine Diego Diaz Gallardo for the

World Boxing Federation (WBF) middleweight title at the Harare

International Conference Centre.

Manyuchi who holds a respectable 23-4-1 record is confident of victory

following a moral boosting triumph against another Argentine

Ezequiel Acosta in May.

He will be looking to restore lost prestige following a surprise loss to

Uzbekistan’s Quadratilo Abduquxarov in 2017 where he lost the

World Boxing Council (WBC) silver welterweight title.

In a recent media interview Manyuchi expressed confidence in

winning the title assuring fans it would remain in the country.

“I can assure you that I am ready and fit for the WBF title fight

against Diego Diaz Gallardo,” he said.

“It is a big opportunity for me to fight for a world title and it will

remain in Zimbabwe I can assure you.”

The match is one of Manyuchi’s last as he approaches the end of his

prolific career.

Gallardo a two time WBF champion will however not be easy prey as

the pugilist declared his desire to win upon arrival at Robert Mugabe

International Airport on Monday.

“I was a champion in Argentina, I was a champion in France and now

I feel that I am going to be a champion here in Zimbabwe,” said

Gallardo.

“I have seen Charles Manyuchi (fighting) on YouTube, I have seen

his videos and he is a bit complicated in terms of boxing but I am

going to win.”

Gallardo has 29 professional bouts in which he won 22 with 13 being

technical knockouts.

He has six losses.

Nine bouts are also set for the night with rising ace Brendon Denes

clashing with Gwayani of Malawi for a WBF title match. – Patriot
