Candidature for Sainthood: Part Two…when villains are rewarded and true prophets vilified

VICTIMS of British imperial tyranny, who have invoked the UN-sanctioned democratic right to information, have hung the late queen’s imperial linen ‘on-line’ to dry (nhumbi dzisati dzagovewa) and it turns out that the protestant candidate for ‘sainthood’ owned a scandalous 6,6 billion acres of land translating to an obscene one sixth of the habitable surface of planet earth.

British imperial history, that was flaunted to make her funeral the most watched event in human history, is unequivocal about how that land was acquired. 

Millions of natives were murdered by the monarch to gain free title to that land.

The scandal is sharpened by the context in which world population is expected to hit eight billion in November this year (2022). 

This means that, not so long ago, the protestant candidate for sainthood had enough land to allocate more than an acre to every person on the planet. 

It is obscene, to say the least!

Zimbabwe’s 96 million acres surface area is a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny 1,45 percent of the deceased woman’s total land holdings on the planet and yet she imposed crippling illegal sanctions on the whole indigenous nation to punish efforts to repossess that land from British settlers for equitable redistribution among the indigenous victims of imperial dispossession.

And, all of it after an armed liberation struggle that became a last resort after ‘Her Royal Highness’ refused to deploy British forces to stop Ian Smith’s Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI).

Smith called the UDI ‘a blow for the preservation of justice, civilisation and Christianity’.

After the declaration, the Rhodesian premier led his mafia Cabinet into the Anglican Cathedral of St Mary and All Saints next to the Parliament building to consummate the conspiracy conveniently called ‘rebellion’ to mask the Queen Elizabeth II’s approval. 

The covenant in the Cathedral of the Church of England headed by Queen Elizabeth II kicked off the violent armed struggle for Zimbabwe.

It is being reported today that calls to canonise the same Queen Elizabeth II are growing louder.

Canonisation is Christian superstition that is predominantly practised by the Roman Catholic and to a lesser extent, the Church of England (Anglican) which the late queen headed.

In simple terms, to canonise is to spiritually decorate, beautify or beatify a deceased believer for good and selfless deeds while they were alive. 

It is to sanctify or make him/her a saint, like St Peter, St Mark, St Luke or St Lucy, like they are suggesting for the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In essence, it is a recommendation made by men of the cloth to the Christian God kuti so and so led a life translating to heroic virtue and deserves to be an angel. This is notwithstanding the fact that the God to whom the recommendation is made is preached as being omnipresent (ubiquitous) and, therefore, omniscient (all-knowing) and, because of that, omnipotent (all-powerful). 

Logic that, unfortunately, keeps escaping African prophets who see angels mourning imperialists dictates that a god who is ubiquitous, all-knowing and all-powerful has no use for recommendations from creations whose fate he has already authored.  

He must already know of the skeletons of murdered natives in the queen’s closets.

We are talking of a God who already knew about John the Baptist (Matthew 3:3) who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah as: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness.”

We are talking of a God who already knew about Herod and the deaths of the innocents (Matthew 2:16-18).

We are talking of a God who already knew about the betrayal of Jesus, the 30 pieces of silver bounty and the suicide of the traitor, Judas Iscariot. (Matthew 26:14-15)

We are talking of a God who already knew kuti Peter would deny Jesus three times before the cock crowed. (Matthew 26:69-75)

We are talking of a God who already knew kuti Peter would not commit suicide like Judas Iscariot. 

He would be the rock upon which he would build his Roman Catholic Church. (Matthew 16:18-20)

We are talking of a God who is preached as the potter in whose hands we are like clay (Ecclesiasticus 33:13) which he can mould into a white slave-master or a black slave complete with instructions not to resist the slave-master as well as the penalty code for transgression.

We are talking of a God who is preached as the author of life.

The logic that is tragically and consistently escaping African converts and prophets is the incongruity between what Queen Elizabeth II did to Africa, whether by omission or commission, and the vision of angels weeping over Buckingham Palace and not weeping over British museums where the skulls of the ancestors of the African converts and prophets are displayed as trophies of British satanism.

It is an inconsistency that powerfully vindicates the Shona worldview that: ‘Mudzimu usiri wako unouraya’.

A god who is preached as the author of life and sends angels to mourn over Buckingham Palace must surely already know…. The God to whom supplication is being made to sanctify Queen Elizabeth II must already know kuti the British candidate for sainthood sustained the crime of apartheid which the great African, Nelson Mandela, described as “…an extraordinary human disaster that lasted too long.” 

He must already know that the genocide wrought upon black Zimbabweans by British settlers could have been avoided if the candidate for sainthood had not refused to deploy British troops to stop the carnage. 

Such a God must already know that the British candidate for sainthood never apologised or considered paying reparations to the generational victims of the crimes of slavery and colonisation that empowered her into the richest woman on the planet. 

Such a God must already know that Kenyan fighters for African freedom were dehumanised under the watch of the British candidate for sainthood. 

The ubiquitous God must already know that the British candidate for sainthood was the supreme commander of British Defence Forces who allowed Smith to recruit mercenaries from the British army. 

The omniscient God must already know the injustice of the sanctions which the British candidate for sainthood imposed on Zimbabwe to punish the bid to correct the crime of dispossession committed by British settlers.

It is all like icing dog poop and one is at pains as to what to call such history.

It is painful history and, it invites outrage when ‘angels crying over Buckingham palace’ apparently choose to manifest themselves through the vision of a descendent of ancestors whose abused remains have lain in the closets of the deceased woman for 70 years of her reign. 

This is painful history and, it especially invites outrage when a generational victim of British tyranny professes love and sympathy for the cause of so much anguish to his own native kith and kin.

It leaves one wondering why African Christian faith is so blind to the historical logic that informs the racists who brought the religion to Africa?

Why do African converts recognise as weakness what those racist charlatans recognised as our most frightening strengths?

Albert Grey said: “This you will say is an honourable motive … it shows their (Shona) conduct is controlled by their religion which is more than can be said of many of us whites. 

We are at present engaged in the most difficult of operations, the bursting up of their faith.”

Catholic Father Boos from Chishawasha said: “The incredible happened. 

The degraded, cowardly race which, for so many years, had proved an easy prey to the Matabele actually dared, at the bidding of their prophets, to engage in a war of extermination with the white colonists … If, then, the influence of superstition is capable of converting the weak and degraded Mashona into a strong and daring foe may we not with reason hope that, once thoroughly imbued with the truths of the Catholic faith, he will prove a sturdy soldier of Christ?” 

David Lan described Chimurenga as: “An astonishing act of collaboration between ancestors and their dependents, the past and the present, the living and the dead.”

Palmer (1977: p. 55) described Shona resistance to colonial occupation as: “The most violent, sustained, and highly organised instance of resistance to colonial rule anywhere in Africa. 

(It was) a genuine people’s war, in which individuals fought because they chose to, not because they were ordered by their leaders. 

The European casualties were much higher than in any comparable revolt.”

One wonders why African converts have allowed themselves to be shepherded to self-denial of these self-evident truths and historical experiences so that we all end up embracing culpability and punishment even for sins and injustices committed against us; so that we end up subscribing to a religion that persuades us to believe that our servitude is already pre-loaded for us to endure when our time comes; a religion that persuades us to believe that our destitution is the will of God and not our failure to read the irrefutable patterns of our history; a religion that persuades us to believe that our destitution is the will of God and not racist British imperial policy.

The idea of ‘Author of life’ incidentally brings to mind the late Zimbabwean author, Dambudzo Marechera, who is alleged to have once told a prostitute kuti: “I will kill you.” 

The ominous import of the concept of a predetermined and irrevocable script of life by an eternal, all-powerful, all-present, all-knowing God who yet insists on his own praise and worship has consistently escaped African converts and, especially, African prophets whose gift apparently hides irrefutable patterns of history from their ‘spiritual spectacles.’

African prophets, like Uebert Angel, have failed to prophesy that such a script de-legitimises the struggle for African self-determination. 

The have failed to prophesy that it is not in the interests of Africans whose ancestors were dispossessed and murdered by British candidates for canonisation to believe in the idea of a script of life that persuades Africans to accept that their destitution is the will of God. 

They have failed to recognise that African gifts of prophesy must complement the right side of African history and not savage it.

They have failed to prophesy that no calls have ever been made to canonise those who championed the struggle against Queen Elizabeth II’s reign of terror in Africa. 

They have failed to prophesy that Christianity punishes African resistance to Western violence.

All the foregoing truths ultimately assign African scholars to find all the pages in which British education killed us in its texts and remove them.

No religion must nurture in us a faith that our dispossession by the British candidate for sainthood was preloaded and should come to pass for all time and not be resisted.

Let us never forget kuti: “Mudzimu usiri wako haurarirwi panze.”

Let us never forget kuti: “Mudzimu usiri wako unouraya.”
