EDITOR – I HAVE no doubt that I am going to receive backlash for writing this letter because I know we have some in our midst who have gone gospel crazy.
One publication wrote that there were 350 000 people who attended the recent ‘all night’ by the so-called prophet of the moment Walter Magaya in Harare.
Yes it said 350 000.
Does that make sense?
I am beginning to think Magaya bribes the media for publicity.
I saw on television the thousands who attended, but to be reasonable 350 000 is an exaggeration.
Some call it hyperbole because 350 000 people is about six times the giant National Sports Stadium filled to capacity.
Some journalists have certainly fallen prey to Magaya and there is no doubt this is all about money and not about God.
That aside I still fail to understand how Zimbos have become so gullible.
Is it poverty or sheer foolishness?
Madhimoni akutaura pamicrophone?
Hanzi minana all over the show.
Miracle this, miracle that?
Vamwe vakazoti vachafamba pamusoro pemvura.
My advice to Zimbos is these so-called prophets may be powerful, but be careful because you don’t know where their powers come from.
Personally I doubt if they are from the Almighty.
I heard that before Magaya shot to fame, he went abroad and when he returned he was saying, “muchaona vanhu vese vachasiya kwanaMakandiwa vachiuya kwandiri nekuti ndini ndava neyese.”
In light of this, people must be careful because muchakwidzwa ndenge dzemashanga nenyaya yekuda zvinhu.
Manje kuchanaya.
Food for thought.
