Arrest the unGodly pastor

Published on

EDITOR — I WAS very much disturbed recently when I heard that the South African pastor who once made congregants eat grass was at it again.
The pastor for End Time Disciplines Ministries Church in South Africa, 24-year-old Penuel Mnguni, hit the headlines after making people on separate occasions eat grass, snakes, ordering congregants to strip naked before stepping on them and other bizarre antics which tend to defy the least semblance of logic.
This week some of his church members left a Tshwane University journalism student shell-shocked after chasing her all over the place wanting to eat her weave.
I have been wondering if the congregants are normal or they will be spell-bound and in a trance.
My concern mostly goes to the church members who are so gullible as to not realise that there is nothing Godly about their pastor, his conduct and magic tricks he performs under the guise that they are miracles.
Miracle my foot!
From a distance, one can tell that there is something terribly wrong with the whole picture of a pastor who seems to control the minds of everyone in the church to make them do whatever he says.
And the congregants seem to buy whatever he says, hook, line and sinker.
As the story was being reported, I only had a vision of the pastor in Gambia who made his congregation drink poison because, according to him, the world was coming to an end.
The naming of the church, End Time Disciplines Ministries Church, is also strikingly similar to jailed Robert Gumbura’s End Time Messages, who was jailed for allegedly raping several women in his Church.
During his reign, Gumbura was accused of ordering his victims to sleep with him lest he commit them into the hands of the devil, which his victims believed.
It is high time such pastors are made to face the music when the long arm of the law catches up with them as they will be breaking, with impunity, numerous laws under the pretext that they are performing miracles.
The buck should stop somewhere.
