Chinx, a deserving winner at ZIMA

EDITOR — I would like to congratulate organisers of the Zimbabwe Music Awards. The organisers did a noble thing by recognising the works and contribution that was done by Cde Chinx Chingaira.
The award which was described by the chairman as an award which is reserved for someone who will have set the bar high and contributed immensely to nation building was long overdue as previous awards have failed to recognise such people.
Chinx who has been singing revolutionary songs during and after the liberation struggle has inspired different generations through music.
His message encourages people to be patriotic and not to forget the gains of the liberation struggle and indeed this warrants recognition.
It was time that the man was recognised and I am glad that the recognition was not just in the form of a little statue but a four bed roomed house in a low density suburb.
I salute the organisers for this significant and befitting gesture.
I pray that the corporate sector will increase support to such events.
However, I want to express my disappointment for the failure to recognise Tocky Vibes, who is arguably the best dancehall artists of the moment.
Tocky Vibes is a phenomenal young artiste who must be spurred and supported to get to greater heights.
