Colonial names are offensive

SAKA chinonyadzisawo kuti Prince Edward Road inzi kana Nikita Mangena Rd as an example chii?

Let us look at residential areas that emerged after independence; all have colonial names.
l In Gweru: Ridgemont Heights, Heartfordshare, Ascort Stadium and why is Wha Wha Prison not written Hwahwa (beer)?
l In Bulawayo we have Barbourfields both as a stadium and residential area.
l In Harare, it is even worse: Warren Park, Norton, Broomley, Donnybrooke Park, Umwinsdale, Grange, Bishop Gaul Ave (one of the longest avenues in the city).
l We have Morris Police Depot, King George (VI) Barracks Army Headquarters, the Dominican Convent in the middle of the city and why is Masasa written as Msasa?
l Along new national highways the authorities have again decided to re-erect those colonial names on new boards.
Why is Heroes Day not in April to honour sons of the soil who fired the first shots of the Second Chimurenga in 1966 in Chinhoyi or else have a holiday like Chinhoyi Battle Day to honour them.
I strongly feel we should have a naming policy that prohibits use of useless colonial names in the country.
There is power in names.
The act of naming is an act of ownership.
And this obsession with foreign names is an indicator of a strong colonial hangover.
