EDITOR – I WORK for a local food manufacturing company owned by a former white commercial farmer and I am very much depressed in the manner in which our employer has been treating us over the past four years.
We earn little salaries that are below the poverty datum line which always come late every month despite the company’s positive performance.
Apart from this ill treatment, our employer has been deducting at least US$10 every month for National Social Security Authority (NSSA) earmarked for our pension benefits, but it is sad to note that the company was not remitting the money to the service provider since 2009.
I am now worried if we are going to benefit from our pension funds upon retirement or retrenchment since the employer is not remitting the money.
Is this not a labour crime or fraudulent activity that is being practised by our employer?
And where is the law to protect us?
When is this corruption going to end in our country when sons and daughters of the soil sacrificed their lives for our betterment?
How long shall we continue to be ill treated by whites in our free Zimbabwe?
I believe NSSA should take action against such unscrupulous employers who are abusing our pension rights because we need security of our pension benefits.
