Freshlyground: My message to Bagorro

Published on

EDITOR – IT is surprising that the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) is actually contemplating bringing back that controversial South African music outfit Freshlyground that was recently denied entry into this country.
I hear they said in the ‘immediate future’.
I tend to wonder whose interests HIFA represents.
If they fail to understand the magnitude of the insult and mockery on that ‘Chicken to Change’ video, then Bagorro and his team have a big problem.
I hear HIFA is now saying something about professionalism and common sense on the part of responsible authorities in Zimbabwe.
My advice to Bagorro is that there are certain things you don’t tamper with.
If you want Freshlyground so much, go to South Africa and spend as much time as you want with them.
I am sure they would be delighted to host you.
In fact, they would be over the moon.
Do not attempt to bring them back here please, particularly if you know what is good for you.
I’m sure you are aware that you already have your own ‘issues’ that for now I will not dwell on, so do not try to bring back people who defame our President.
If this is difficult for you to understand, take your time and go over that ‘Chicken to Change’ video again.
I am sure after that, you will know where I am coming from.
