Hwange nightmare for Dynamos

Published on

REIGNING champions Dynamos were this week contemplating a raft of changes aimed at satisfying their hard-to-please supporters ahead of their crunch tie against an impressive Hwange side that has defied odds this season in a Castle Lager Premier League (PSL).
The blockbuster match at the colliery will be the highlight of the week.
DeMbare coach Calisto Pasuwa was this week forced to go into a defensive mode after his team struggled to a scrappy 1-nil victory against a woeful Triangle at the National Sports Stadium.
Disgruntled fans abused Pasuwa and his team as they made their way to the dressing room after the match blaming the strike force for fluffing a number of chances.
The out-of-sorts Simba Sithole and Patrick Khumbula were the chief culprits.
The Harare giants are said to be in the market for new players, particularly the strike force which has been their achilles heel this season.
Despite sitting third with just a point separating them from log leaders Highlanders, DeMbare fans are not convinced with their team’s performance thus far.
The Kenny Mubaiwa-led team this week also announced that they were holding negotiations with Harare City Council for a return to their fortress Rufaro Stadium after their decision to relocate to the giant National Sports Stadium did not bring desired results.
Hwange will seek to consolidate their position behind Highlanders with another impressive outing against DeMbare.
The coal miners coach, Nation Dube has built a strong side that is widely tipped to lift the title at the end of the season.
Action started yesterday when Luke Masomere’s Buffaloes played against How Mine who last week drew nil-all with Harare City Council.
Tomorrow ZPC Kariba who notched another draw host Chapungu who thumped fallen giants Caps United 3-0 at Ascot Stadium last Sunday.
It was ZPC’s seventh drawn match of the season.
In another fixture, Chicken Inn who drew 1-all with Shabanie Mine in their last encounter courtesy of a Daniel Chikupe equaliser, will face a Chiredzi FC side that finally remembered how to garner points when they drew 1-all with Hwange.
Chiredzi FC have this week been woeful off the pitch as they have been in field, head coach Moses Chunga announced that he had quit the team only to bounce back hours later.
FC Platinum coach, Lloyd Mutasa will be seeking to continue to build on his side’s impressive display against Highlanders at Barbourfields on Sunday, when he dates Black Rhinos at Mandava Stadium.
The platinum miners were by far the better side in a match they outplayed their seasoned opponents in their own backyard.
Highlanders were forced to come back from behind when a Charles Sibanda header cancelled Platinum striker Donald Ngoma strike on the stroke of halftime.
On Sunday, struggling Harare giants Caps United play Shabanie Mine at the National Sports Stadium in a match that has all the ingredients of a thriller.
The Makepekepe boat was rocked by threats of boycotts by players over unpaid salaries and bonuses.
They were duly thumped by a supercharged Chapungu United.
Influential defender Hardlife Zvirekwi completely pulled out of the encounter.
Unconfirmed reports this week indicated that Zvirekwi was on his way to arch rivals DeMbare but efforts to get hold of him and Caps United officials were fruitless at the time of going to print.
Highlanders will make the long journey to Chiredzi for a tie against disappointing Triangle.
After finishing in the top eight last season, Triangle surprisingly dumped their outspoken coach Gishon Ntini for the reserved Biggy Zuze but results have not been pleasing.
They currently occupy the third and final position in the dreaded chop zone.
Another defeat will spell doom for Zuze.
Harare City and Bantu Rovers close this week’s round of fixtures at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
