Keep the memories burning

Published on

EDITOR – I READ your newspaper The Patriot quite often.
I believe it is of great value to keep the Zimbabwean mind focussed on the need to keep the memories burning.
The State of Israel came into being as a result of memories that were kept burning for centuries. Hitler was only a catalyst.
Zimbabwe should keep these memories to spur it to achieve great national heights to honour those that paid the supreme price.
As a way of gathering those who may not be and may not have the wish to be affiliated to any particular group to also come to terms with the reality that the armed struggle was, could you on an annual basis, through your newspaper organise ordinary Zimbabweans to go on trips to visit the several shrines like Chimoio, in neighbouring countries and other shrines within the country.
People will have to pay, but the Zimbabwe Heritage Trust or The Patriot or some other Trust formed to preserve this all important national heritage, will coordinate the activity through communication in your newspaper and other national papers as well.
Christians organise such trips to Israel so it should be possible Zimbabweans through your newspaper, to organise themselves in a similar fashion.

Thank you.
Mrs C. Chinembiri
