MDC-T, ‘People First’, none will catch ZANU PF

Published on

BY the time the 10 Heads of State and their representatives from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) emerged from the highly subscribed Extraordinary Summit on Industrialisation on Thursday last week, yet another hammer blow had hit the MDC-T; this dying party.
The regional leaders had quietly gone about their business, far detached and too busy to pay attention to the MDC-T’s frolicsome and futile attempt to bring Zimbabwe back on to the SADC agenda through their failed ‘demonstration’ the previous day.
But the inescapable reality is that since their July 31 2013 obliteration by ZANU PF, the MDC-T is on its way to oblivion.

FOR the MDC-T, this might have been viewed as an opportunity for catharsis, the SADC Summit.
It was supposed to be a time to finally join hands with SADC and the rest of the progressive world to work for the better of the country and the region, but as widely anticipated the MDC-T did not.
Instead, they were dancing to some orchestra played by some drunken political dwarf hoping to attract the donor funding that has since dried up following the aforementioned July 31 2013 massacre.
Of course it’s too late to expect the MDC-T to begin to see the light.
Political journalism, a reflection of modern society, economic and social development and or lack thereof, is a serious business.
But when it comes to the performances of politicians and political parties, good or bad, there is a strange, pervading optimism.
Analysts and supporters alike start looking towards the next step, assuming that, at long last, everything is well with the world.
The same could have been said of the MDC-T and its supporters had they accepted and endorsed the July 31 2013 results like the rest of the world.
This is why the eternally compelling aftermath of this whole episode has been another devastating split for the MDC-T.
And another one is in the offing.
But that is not the reason for the MDC-T’s death.
No.
ZANU PF’s flawless performance in the said polls, its policies, programmes, ideas, ideals and values were and still are the bane for the MDC-T.
Rarely does a political party or institution rise back to life when confronted with such a formidable force as ZANU PF.
The ruling ZANU PF party has answered and continues to answer all questions aimed at its rule and continued existence through the Land Reform and Resettlement and the ongoing Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Programmes, but the few that are clutching at the West’s straws remain unconvinced.
The West has long abandoned their strategy of using Morgan Tsvangirai, the leader of the crumbling MDC-T to install a leadership and government of their choice.
The West has new ideas, a new plan woven around eating right into the core of ZANU PF; with the so-called ‘People First’ forming the nucleus of their new anti-Zimbabwe, anti-Mugabe project.
Yet to write about this is to give the West a false sense of invincibility, a false sense of power they do not have, can never have when it comes to Zimbabwean politics.
The power belongs to the people and a political party can only manage to harness the same with ease.
ZANU PF did it in 2013 as they had already done since 1980 in spectacular fashion.
What do we do as a country to bring these people up to speed on realities evidently eluding them?
There is a way.
Zimbabwe and ZANU PF have gone through worse to worry about these malcontents.
There is a lot to do for the country.
The potential is there.
The news bulletin on Sunday reported that Zimbabwe had generated US$10million from conferences and other related activities last year.
We build from that.
The foundation is already through the sound and solid leadership we have as a country.
We have the mega deals we signed with China and Russia in place.
We implement these other deals we have.
We have the resources.
We have the willpower.
We have the zeal to do it.
Of course spanners will be thrown along the way.
Tsvangirai has gone to Germany on a purportedly diplomatic ‘offensive to ratchet up pressure on the Mugabe regime’, but all that will come to naught.
None among those wishing this country bad will ever catch ZANU PF.
We remain optimistic and are sure the economy will rise.
The MDC-T is a dead party and Tsvangirai is a dead man walking
Let those with ears listen.
