Motivational Corner By Beatrice Sithole :People of character do what they say they will do

OUR world is up-side-down because many people are not dependable.
People of character do what they say they will do, when they say they will do it and according to agreed — upon conditions. The world over, many people are not trustworthy.
Promises are broken, contracts are nullified — why — because most people are not dependable.
Good character and dependability should begin with you and me today so that we can leave this world a better place than we found it.
If someone cheated us yesterday or if we broke our promises before, that is enough.
Let us aim to be people who can be trusted and whom others can depend on so that they too can emulate us.
Many people commit themselves to various tasks in life which they never get to fulfill, be they social or otherwise.
At our workplaces, communities or homes, let us strive to be people that others can depend on.
This can begin with you and me wherever we are and at which ever level or positions that we hold in society.
Dependability, just like any other character trait, is a habit. Let us begin today to develop a dependability habit.
We can begin with small things such as keeping appointments, arriving on time and doing the things — no matter how small — that we would have promised to do.
If we enter into contracts, we should do so with integrity. Leaders need to guide and to lead people demonstrating good characters so that those under them can respect them. They need to be leaders who are dependable and who lead by example. Likewise parents, caregivers and teachers.
If we train ourselves to do everything that we do in life honestly, we certainly will live happy and fulfilled lives.
Everyday when we wake up, let us take a good look at ourselves in the mirror and see if we like the person who is gazing back at us.
We need to ask ourselves if the person we are looking at is a person of honour and good character.
I hope that we get to love and respect the person who stares back at us each and every day of our lives.
