National Pledge launched in style

Published on

At Girls High School in Harare, the second term for 2016 started with an assembly at 7.30am.
This day was very important not only as the first day of the second term, but it was the day for the launch of the National Pledge.
A good number of the students were present and ready to start the new term.
The school was also blessed by some parents who came to witness and participate in the launch and congratulate their students with some gifts in honour of this great day.
The assembly session started with the National Anthem followed by a prayer and the welcome speech from Samantha Joseph.
The school head, Dr Beauty Mutsambiwa welcomed the district education officer (DEO) Mrs A. Ncube, all the students, teachers and parents.
She reminded the assembly that this was the day of the launch of the National Pledge.
The students and teachers, parents and the DEO stood at attention and the National Pledge commenced.
The pupils were immaculately dressed in their green uniforms.
They stood at attention and said the first line with their hands on their chests.
Then after a brief pause, saluted and recited the rest of the pledge which reminded them of the sacrifices made by the gallant men and women, who fought for the independence of Zimbabwe.
The occasion was mesmerising.
“We thank the Almighty for affording us the chance to launch our National Pledge in an amicable and happy atmosphere,” said Dr Mutsambiwa.
After the pledge, parents and children embraced and parents gave their children presents to mark this great occasion in the history of the school and the nation.
There was so much jubilation as some parents literally carried their children on their backs as a show of affection, rejoicing at this grand landmark in the history of the nation.
The parents unreservedly showed their affection and support for their Government and their school, demonstrating their appreciation for this great national accomplishment.
It can be done and it has been done, people should not lie about our nation and children.
Those with evil agendas should leave our nation alone.
Girls High School, like so many other schools across the nation launched the National Pledge on May 3 2016.
They did it in style, with national pride and dignity.
It was not just the staff and the students of the school, but they were joined by the DEO as well as some parents.
The parents pledged their loyalty to Zimbabwe together with their children, shaming those who have been callously claiming that Zimbabweans do not want their children to recite the national pledge.
The students and the parents, united as one, pledged loyalty to their nation Zimbabwe.
They were all at peace as they honoured who they are, Zimbabweans.
This unit of purpose and spirit is what frightens our enemies because its potential is limitless and immeasurable.
That is why they have been raising the dust claiming Zimbabweans do not know who they are so they do not want to pledge allegiance to their nation, their identity.
It is our fervent hope that this special consecration for our students should not only bless the students in Government schools, but should also bless each child that goes to school beneath the Zimbabwe flag.
Each child of Zimbabwe has the right to be fully and truly Zimbabwean and no-one has the right to abrogate this.
As for those who have been lying about our nation, they should learn once and for all that Zimbabweans are winners, no-one can fit them into their pocket.
