No joy for Zim housemates in Big Brother

TANZANIAN Housemate in Big Brother Africa (BBA) ‘Hotshots’ Idris Sultan was last Sunday crowned the winner of the reality show.
Competing against seven other finalists from other countries including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Ghana and Nigeria, Idris only 21 years old bagged the whooping US$300 000 prize money.
He becomes the second Tanzanian to win the competition after Richard Dyle Bezuidenhout who won in Season two of BBA.
With five country votes, Idris managed to beat Nigerian Tayo who was the runner-up.
Idris received votes from Tanzania, Uganda, Namibia, Kenya and Rwanda while Tayo got two votes from Mozambique and Nigeria.
Idris’ win was received with mixed feelings as many people took to the social network.
Some said Tayo was robbed, while others said Idris deserved to win.
Zimbabwe’s Butterphly received the least votes with zero country votes followed by Ghanaian Mam’bea with one country vote from her country.
Another Zimbabwean housemate, JJ received one country vote from Zimbabwe, Malawian Sipe got one country vote from Malawi while Nhlanhla received two country votes from South Africa and Botswana.
Zambia’s Macky 2 also received two country votes from Zambia and Rest of Africa.
Below are some comments from fans on the Big Brother Africa facebook page.
“BBA robbery is not new, it all went wrong when Luclay was robbed for Wendell, Prezo for Kegan, Ellikem for Dillishand Tayo robbed for Idris.” – Terumbur Testimonies.
“I am a fan of BBA and my opinion is it is a platform for Africans to meet, exchange, interact and also showcase African culture.
“Unfortunately some of the housemates and fans have missed the point and rather project immorality, hate and pretence.
“Some housemates rather than show African cultures do their best to imitate Western cultures.
“The whole strategy has to be reviewed and made more African, more realistic and more objective.” – Tilder Kumichii.
“Idris congratulations and also Tayo you made it far brother.
“I learned a few wise words from you.
“You are going far boss just control your temper out there, proud of you two boys of African soil.” – Sijeng S. Mahlare.
“I will be so happy if Nigeria pull out of the game, after all, it’s not a fair game to us, West African countries are just two, while East Africa five and Southern Africa are seven, how do you justify that?
“The game is all about region at the end of the day.” – Blessing Emonina Kumolu-johnson.
“Well, congratulations Idris, from a terrible season you were the most relevant housemate I guess.
“I said this earlier on, Tayo’s downfall was his fans, insulting other housemates by calling them fake, excusing some of his behaviour instead of only admitting that he is only human and errs.” – VuyolwethuVemaNdlovu.
“Congratulations Idris! You deserved it. Tayo was annoying all through.
“I’m a Nigerian and I was not impressed. Nigerians should calm down.
“It’s an African affair, not just Nigerian. Stop bringing the Nigerian mentality into everything.
“It is disgusting. Everything cannot be about Nigeria.” – LoluOlusesan-Falade.
