Sellouts end up miserable

EDITOR – THERE is something interesting about the relationship of whites and blacks.
Take for example, former prime minister, Morgan Tsvangirai.
He used to be the West’s blue-eyed boy.
After the inception of the Land Reform Programme in 2000, white farmers were at the forefront of giving money to the MDC which had been formed in 1999.
They wanted the land back and decided to use Tsvangirai.
He became a sellout and to date, it is said the West invested over US$2,6 billion in the MDC and the regime change agenda in Zimbabwe.
But more than a decade later, Tsvangirai is reportedly going insane.
And such are the consequences of selling out.
History has proved that most sellouts end up miserable.
In fact they die miserable.
Tsvangirai is not the first sell-out in Zimbabwe.
Such people were there during the liberation struggle.
Enticed by whites, they would betray their own comrades.
That is how thousands died at Nyadzonia when one Morrison Nyathi who was also known as ‘Livison Mutasa’ betrayed his comrades and led Selous Scouts in one of the worst massacres during the liberation war.
In his book Pamwe Chete: The legend of the Selous Scouts, founder of the Selous Scout regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel R.F Reid Daly talks about Nyathi as ‘their’ hero, the exact way Tsvangirai was being praised by the West.
“Morrison Nyathi, a brave man,” says Daly.
“The turned ZANLA guerilla who played a pivotal role in the Nyadzonia/Pungwe raid that accounted for 1 000 enemy deaths in August 1976.”
Other Rhodesians however say the same Nyathi is deeply vilified in ZANLA mythology as he is celebrated in Selous Scouts mythology, but in fact is not listed on either the Selous Scouts Roll of Honour or the Nominal Roll.
Note, after betraying his own comrades, Nyathi was abandoned by his white friends.
I hear he was dumped at Mbare Musika before he met his fate.
So as much as Tsvangirai may globetrot, he must remember that indeed sellouts always end up miserable.
